"What attitude is this?" Damien snapped at me. "Melody, if you still want to stay by my side, you'd better drop that little attitude of yours."
"Damien." I cut him off, telling him loud and clear, "Have you forgotten? We've already broken up. Oh wait, that's not right. You said we were never together, so there's no such thing as breaking up."
"Now, I have nothing to do with you anymore. I've already moved out of your place. Genevieve likes my room, doesn't she? It's all hers now."
Damien's face darkened as he said grimly, "You moved out? Fine. I'd like to see where you can live without me. Melody, have you forgotten? You, and that mother of yours in the nursing home, are both living off of me."
I couldn't be bothered to tell him that I'd already gotten a promotion and a raise through hard work, and had saved up quite a bit.
