CHAPTER 5 : The Truth is Revealed

After understanding Amrita's soul's pain and her story, I felt a strange sense of lightness and responsibility within me. As soon as I stepped out of that house, the images of her entire life and her struggle started flashing before my eyes. Her pain-filled eyes, her surrender and her murder in that room-everything was clearly visible.

I had taken that night's experience as a dream, but now it had become reality. I had to bring her truth to the world.

---

The next day I went to my old friend Nidhi, who was a journalist. I told her everything, from Amrita's diary to the strange events that happened inside that house.

Nidhi looked at me in disbelief. "Are you sure, Anya? All this could be a hallucination of your mind. Maybe you are feeling all this because of the nervousness in that house."

I looked into her eyes and said seriously, "Nidhi, this is not a hallucination. I have felt Amrita's spirit. She was murdered, and her soul is still wandering for justice. This diary and that mirror are witnesses to this."

Nidhi flipped through the pages of the diary, her eyes now filled with less disbelief and more concern. "If this is true, we have to investigate this case deeply. But it won't be that easy. We can't just put up a ghost story. We need solid evidence."

"We have the proof," I said firmly. "It's all in Amrita's diary-her husband's cruelty, his threats, and finally her murder. And that mirror too."

Nidhi took a deep breath and said, "Okay, we'll present it as a personal story, but we need more information. We need to know more about Amrita Devi and her husband."

---

Together, we tried to gather information about Amrita's family and her husband. We scoured through many old documents but could not find any clear information. But one day, we found an old newspaper report from 1925. It mentioned Amrita's death, which was termed as an 'accident'. The report said Amrita Devi had died after falling down the stairs, and her husband had called it an unfortunate incident.

"Look!" I said, pointing to the report. "This is the lie her husband spread. He killed her, and then proved himself innocent by calling the whole case an accident."

Nidhi looked at the report closely and then said, "Now we have to prove that Amrita's death was not an accident but murder."

--

We tried to find old files, land documents and other legal papers of that house. Slowly, we found out that Amrita's husband actually wanted to grab the land behind the house. Amrita's family was very rich, and he had a claim on her property.

"So it was just a property matter. He killed his wife for money," said Nidhi.

Now we had to bring it out in the open. Nidhi wrote an article detailing Amrita's entire story-how her spirit was still trapped in the house, seeking justice. She also included excerpts from Amrita's diary, showing her agony and the injustice she suffered.

---

As soon as the article was published, the city was stirred up. People started to know the old story and started talking about the truth of Amrita's spirit. Many wanted to know about the house, and some thought it was just a superstition. But now the house was not just a heritage, but the centre of a terrible mystery.

After the article appeared in the newspapers, the police also decided to reopen the old case. The case files of Amrita's death were re-examined, and action was taken with new evidence.

---

A few weeks later, I went back to the house. I was no longer scared inside, because I knew I had done my duty. As I went inside, I felt a strange peace. The cold, the strange sounds had now disappeared.

I softly said, "You have got justice, Amrita. Your soul will rest in peace now."

The mirror was still there, but this time it showed only my reflection. Amrita's image had now disappeared.

I was sure that her soul had now found salvation.
