At eight months pregnant, my boyfriend and I, in our pure love, were involved in a car accident.
Caelan ignored the blood between my legs and rushed to the hospital carrying Faye in his arms.
When I opened my eyes again, I was tightly strapped to a blood donation table, my stomach in excruciating pain.
From outside the door, Caelan's conversation with the doctor came through clearly:
"Mr. Langdon, are you sure you want to do this? If we induce labor now, Miss Carlisle's baby could still be saved! But if we draw blood now, not only will the baby be lost, Miss Carlisle could also go into severe shock, endangering her life!"
After a moment of silence.
Caelan sighed, his voice hoarse as he said:
"Faye is critically injured and still in emergency care. The hospital blood bank is insufficient. Only Serenity's blood can save her. I can't stand by and do nothing."
"When Serenity wakes up, I'll do my best to make it up to her, marry her, and give her a proper status."
In just a few words, he casually decided the fate of me and our child.
I laughed bitterly to myself, closing my eyes in despair,
Allowing the sharp needle to pierce my arm.
It was too late.
Caelan still didn't know,
In just one more month, I was truly going to die.

The doctor entered the room and saw my face gradually turning pale from blood loss, his expression filled with compassion:
"Is it really worth giving up your own love and flesh and blood for Faye?"
"There's no question of worth, I have my reasons."
Caelan leaned down and placed a kiss on my forehead, now covered in a fine sheen of sweat.
"Serenity, don't be afraid, it'll be over soon."
I tried to frown and turn away, but my body had no strength left.
"Once you've recovered, we'll have our wedding in Provence. You've always loved the lavender fields there, haven't you?"
He gently caressed my stomach, now devoid of any signs of life:
"And the baby... we'll have another baby..."
In a corner unnoticed by anyone, a tear slid from the corner of my eye.
After five years of dating, Caelan had used various excuses to delay our marriage.
Now, to make up for using me as Faye's living blood bag, he was suddenly willing to get married.
Unfortunately, there was no time left.
And there would be no more babies.
Blood slowly drained from my body,
A buzzing filled my head, and then darkness descended.
When I regained consciousness, a week had passed.
Caelan looked haggard, his head tilted on the edge of the bed, exhausted and asleep.I quietly gazed at him for a long time. After a while, I picked up his phone that was lying nearby and turned it on.
The wallpaper showed Faye's profile as she slept peacefully on a desk.
Suppressing the bitterness in my heart, I unlocked the phone using Faye's birthday as the password.
Faye was Caelan's only pinned contact.
Ever since Faye became Caelan's secretary three years ago, they communicated daily.
Sometimes it was about seeing a beautiful bouquet of flowers, other times about enjoying a delicious slice of cake.
Even during the half-month period when Caelan was busy with the company's IPO and lost contact with me, they still exchanged good night messages on WhatsApp.
Three years, 1,095 days, 1,095 good night messages.
Never missing a single day.
Meanwhile, I found my own account buried in the collapsed messages.
The chat hadn't been opened for a month, with over 99 unread messages piling up.
Even though I had steeled myself for this, my heart still shattered into countless pieces when I saw it.
I wiped away the tears from the corner of my eye and carefully placed the phone back where it was.
Then I contacted my brother, asking him to prepare a burial plot abroad.
I agreed to leave Caelan, choosing to spend my remaining time with my family.
My brother didn't think much of it, assuming I had finally seen Caelan's true colors.
He was both happy for me and regretful about the five years of youth I had wasted.I stared blankly at the ceiling, lost in thought.
After a moment, Caelan slowly opened his eyes.
He gazed at me in a daze, then suddenly his eyes welled up with tears, turning red.
"Serenity... you're finally awake. The doctor said when you hit your stomach in the car crash, by the time they got you to the hospital it was already too late to save... it was a stillbirth."
"It's all my fault. If only I could have saved both you and Faye, maybe our baby could have..."
His acting was impeccable, giving no hint that he could be connected to the death of my child.
I forced a weak smile, reaching up to stroke the stubble on his chin.
"It's not your fault. I know you did your best."
A flicker of guilt flashed in Caelan's eyes, then he hurriedly opened the plastic bag on the table.
"You must be hungry after sleeping so long. I bought your favorite chicken noodle soup. Try some."
After a long silence, I couldn't hold back anymore:
"I'm allergic to shrimp."
It was Faye who loved shrimp, never me.
