Chapter 9

Caelan finally responded: "Really? I still can't marry you right now, though. The company's been swamped lately. Let's discuss our wedding plans after I get through this busy period."

"Alright."

"Caelan, are you done?"

"Caelan?"

"......"

Caelan remembered that time clearly.

He was on a business trip abroad for those few days, while Faye had eaten something bad back home and was feeling awful for a long time.

Every day, he would calculate the time difference to make a goodnight video call to Faye, then coax her to sleep.

When Faye was feeling particularly terrible, he would even drop his work responsibilities and take an eighteen-hour flight back home.

But Serenity never knew any of this.

She just kept waiting foolishly at home, in their marital apartment.

Tears fell one by one onto the back of his hand.

Caelan sent message after message to Serenity.

But he only received red exclamation marks in return.
