Chapter 6

"Silk, it hurts." I quickly yanked my hand away in pain.

He stepped back a few paces, distancing himself from me. His eyes were cold, his tone indifferent. "Yeah, I was just playing with you. So what?"

"Weren't you playing with me too? For five years, Desmond. You're not all that either. Now, I'm bored of this game."

I clenched my jaw, my fingers digging into my arm as I tried to hold back my tears.

"Fine. I get it."

"Oh, Desmond, you're here too?" Summer's belly had grown quite large, and she walked unsteadily. Elliot, seeing this, quickly stepped forward to support her, his eyes full of concern.

"Your belly's so big now. You shouldn't be running around. What if something happens?"

She glanced at me with a smirk. "I came to bring you food. Since Desmond's not taking care of you, as your good friend, I should look after you, right?"

Looking at them, it seemed they were the picture-perfect family of three.
