Elia's Predicament

(Outside the building)

Nathan was killing the abarations with ease and was also simultaneously absorbing their crystals. He realized that he needed a very less amount of time compared to his aunt. It had probably to do something with his class.

It was when he absorbed the tenth force crystal, he felt his Universe Force Crystal completely forming near his heart.

As the message was displayed on the screen, he felt a rush of information coursing through his mind. This information was about the class talents and skills he could create from them. As he understood about them, he grew excited.

Both his class talents were extremely overpowered.

He raised his hands and a small fireball appeared on his index finger. With a flick of his finger, the fireball shot forward and instantly pierced an incoming abaration.

Nathan immediately felt an exhaustion wash over him felt exhausted and he realized that he had spent half his Universe Force on that fireball.

Even so, he was extremely pleased. Not only, now, he could manipulated the fire element but he could now also manipulate the other basic elements- Water, Air and Earth.

He also wanted to immediately try his second talent, but unfortunately, the talent could not be used on abarations.

It took Nathan a few more minutes to hunt down another ten abarations, whose crystals he collected and brought to Elia's flat.

"Absorb them," said Nathan, handing her the crystals.

Elia immediately sat down and began absorbing the crystals. As before, she was slower at absorbing the crystals compared to Nathan.

Nathan was sitting on the sofa looking below the building when Elia stood up excitedly.

"Nathan, I reached Level 1!" she exclaimed as she ran and leaped onto him.

Nathan reacted quickly and caught the excited, bouncing bunny in his embrace. He then looked, in surprised, at the remaining crystals.

"How many crystals did you have to absorb?" asked Nathan.

"Five," replied Elia, as she regained her footing.

It took Nathan double the amounts of crystals to reach the same level as Elia. Nathan had an instinctive feeling that this had something to do with his talents. He felt that while his talents were overpowered and made him much stronger, he would have to put in more efforts to level up. But that was not something Nathan was worried about. He was more excited about the power boost he had received.

 Even though they were at the same level, Nathan knew that he was much stronger than Elia. He wondered if, since he absorbed twice as many crystals, his Universe Force was also double that of Elia's.

"Now what?" asked Elia.

"Do you have any place where we could go?" she continued.

Nathan thought for a few minutes, "Pack all the dry food items you have in stock in a backpack. I have something in mind."

Elia did not question him further and did as she was told. Meanwhile, Nathan absorbed the remaining five crystals.

In a few minutes, a small backpack was prepared, which Nathan slung over his shoulder, and they were set to go.

Carrying the backpack, they stepped just outside the flat when five fierce-looking men stood in their path.

From the corner of his eye, Nathan caught Elia flinching slightly in fear at their sight.

"Boss," said one of the men on the side, "it looks like she was running away."

The man in the middle sneered, "Running away from me, Elia? You sure have guts."

Another of his lackeys chimed in flattery, "If you don't know, our boss has already absorbed three force crystals and reached Level 1."

The man in the middle smirked at the praise as he leaned forward, "Elia, why don't you understand me? I truly like you."

"The law was stopping me from having you... but now, in this condition, there is no law."

He continued with a lecherous grin, "As soon as I reached Level 1, I came for you."

"Follow me, Elia," he said in threatening voice, "or I will have to be forceful with you."

Nathan squinted his eyes. "What is the matter, aunt?"

The boss snarled in response, "Who are you, kid?"

Nathan ignored the man and focused on his aunt. As he stared at her, she could feel the warmth radiating from his eyes, making her feel safe in his presence.

"He's a local thug," replied Elia after some hesitation. "A few days back, he saw me working as a receptionist at a restaurant."

She added further, "Since then, he's been trying to force me to sleep with him."

One of the sidekicks stepped forward, "Kid... you heard her. Now tell us, how will you die?"

Nathan chuckled as he ignored the sidekick and stared directly at the so called boss.

"You are correct. There is no law now. But that should be worrisome situation for you."

Before anyone could understand what, he meant, Nathan grabbed the head of the sidekick who had stepped forward and smashed it against the wall.

Nathan had done this with such sheer force, that the head of the man exploded like a watermelon, splattering blood all over Nathan.

The remaining four thugs were shocked in fright and instinctively took few steps back in fear. Although, Nathan maintained a neutral expression on his face, he was raging from inside. Every time there would be someone with a sense of power trying to bully them but no more. Everyone who would try this would be dealt in the same manner.

Nathan, then, pulled out his dagger and, in a swift motion, beheaded two more of the sidekicks.

Of the 5 thugs, 3 had been killed and no one had even got the chance to retaliate. The boss who had climbed to level 1 and had been extremely confident just moments ago, felt extremely fearful.

He gulped in fear as he tried to open his mouth to beg for forgiveness but Ethan was in no mood to listen to his blabbering.

With another swing oh his blade, two more heads rolled on the ground.
