Chapter 48 Fake goods[Part 1]

Listening to the sales assistant (SA) speak with a faintly mocking tone, Wang Yixin wished she could crawl into a hole. Damn Wu Jun—how could he dare to give her a fake? He made her lose face so badly in front of Zhou Yi!

Wang Yixin was so embarrassed that she didn't know what to do.

Zhou Yi asked, "Was this a gift from your friend?"

Wang Yixin nodded awkwardly, "Yeah… I never expected him to give me a counterfeit. He's supposed to be one of those wealthy second-generation heirs."

The SA chuckled again, "These days, it's hard to tell whether these so-called 'second-generation rich kids' are genuine or not. Students like you probably shouldn't come to places like this—it's not where you'd typically shop."

Zhou Yi raised an eyebrow. "What exactly are you implying? Do you think we can't afford it?"

The woman arrogantly sneered, "Authentic products cost way more than knockoffs, kid. How much is your monthly allowance? Save it for food."

In this line of work, many salespeople judge customers based on their clothes to determine if they can afford luxury items. The staff at high-end counters practically wear their snobbery on their sleeves.

Zhou Yi responded flatly, "How expensive could it be? More than what you earn standing here all month?"

His words hit a nerve. She immediately shot back, "Why don't you two just turn left outside? There are some budget-friendly cosmetics stores over there. We're a high-end brand—not for people like you."

Her condescending attitude irritated both Zhou Yi and Wang Yixin. Wang Yixin wanted to lash out but Zhou Yi stopped her. With a casual, dismissive tone, he retorted, "Chanel may be high-end, but you're nothing but a glorified sales clerk, Auntie."

"Thanks to your service, even Chanel seems to have lost its luster."

"Forget it. Let's go to the CL counter next door."

The woman was furious—her face turned red, almost livid. She couldn't believe it. "Sales clerk? You dare call me a sales clerk?"

She scoffed loudly. "You two, carrying around fakes, actually think you can afford CL? Don't make me laugh."

Zhou Yi gave a cold smirk and didn't bother arguing further. He simply took Wang Yixin straight to the CL counter.

The CL salesperson was dressed more elegantly, wearing a sleek black suit that exuded quality. Her smile was warm and welcoming.

"Good evening, sir and madam. Welcome to CL. What kind of product are you looking for today?"

This SA's emotional intelligence was worlds apart from the one at Chanel. At least she didn't judge potential customers by their outfits.

Wang Yixin whispered softly, "Can we just look around without buying anything?"

She feared Zhou Yi might not be able to afford it, yet she didn't want them to appear inferior to the woman next door. They could always claim later that they didn't like CL's shades. At least they tried.

The SA smiled gently, "Of course, miss. What kind of shades do you usually prefer? I'd be happy to recommend something…"

Her gentle demeanor instantly won Wang Yixin and Zhou Yi over. Now this was how a salesperson should behave.

Wang Yixin tested a few shades the SA recommended in front of the mirror. One shade caught her eye, but the price tag was steep—over a thousand yuan. She didn't expect Zhou Yi to buy it for her.

After all, they weren't in a relationship. Who would be that generous?

"Do you like this color?" the SA asked.

"Hmm… let's find a cheaper alternative somewhere else. CL is pretty pricey."

Zhou Yi couldn't help but chuckle at her cautiousness, afraid of hurting his pride. Without hesitation, he pulled out his card and handed it to the SA.

"We'll take this one. Put it on my card."

"Certainly, sir," the SA replied smoothly, taking the card without question to process the payment.

Wang Yixin gasped, "Yi-Gege, this lipstick costs over eighteen hundred yuan!"

Zhou Yi glanced at the Chanel SA who had been watching them. He winked at Wang Yixin and said, "Don't you want to get under that woman's skin?"
