Chapter 5

On Valentine's Day, at Seraphina's birthday dinner.

Her cousin handed her a box. Seraphina opened it, stared at the contents, and froze instantly, her eyes welling up with tears.

She asked her cousin where she was now.

Her cousin answered truthfully.

"He's already married."

Unexpectedly, this brief sentence left the illustrious Miss Zimmerman standing stock-still, her face as white as paper, hand clutching her chest as she coughed softly a few times.

I never imagined her reaction would be so intense.

Even less did I expect that she would come to Coastal City in person.

That day, amid wind and snow, a solitary figure stood below, as forlorn as an abandoned lighthouse by the sea.

Melody pushed open the door and called out to me.

"Dad, someone's here to see you!"

"Who is it?"

I curiously peeked out the door, glancing outside, and inadvertently locked eyes with a familiar gaze.
