"People like you are better off dead."

I looked at him with a pained expression, forcefully suppressing the bitterness in my heart.

"Don't worry, I'll grant your wish."

Mr. Harrington's heart jolted violently at these words. He felt an inexplicable sense of unease.

As if he had lost something most precious.

The day before I left the country, Scarlett came to find me.

She looked at me, her expression quite smug.

"Why did you have to come back? If it weren't for you, I'd be Mom and Dad's only child. Their real child!"

Though she always maintained a gentle and likable facade, she was still very much bothered by the fact that she was the fake daughter.

I gazed at her coldly.

"If you came here to gloat, there's no need. I honestly couldn't care less."

Seeing my reaction, she wasn't angered. Instead, she pulled out a lucky charm.

"Mr. Harrington said I'm not in good health, so he gave me this lucky charm specially."

When I saw that object clearly, my eyes widened in shock.
