Chapter 14: Dumbledore: Now That You're in Gryffindor, How Can You Follow Tom's Old Path?
Dylan stood speechless with his mouth wide open.
He had thought since Gryffindor had the Sword of Gryffindor and so-called House heritage, the other three houses should have their founders' heritage as well.
So if he could make it into Ravenclaw, he would then be able to find out about Ravenclaw's heritage.
Although the Sword of Gryffindor was also very useful, it was not for him. He was not a sword fighter.
"Great! Dylan, we're in the same house!"
When Dylan walked into the Gryffindor table with applause, he immediately sat down next to Neville.
He was not surprised that this little fat man could get into Gryffindor.
But Professor McGonagall, who was watching him sit down, was a bit surprised.
After a hasty meeting with Dylan, she always thought Dylan would be at Ravenclaw.
To her surprise, Gryffindor.
But that made her quite little unexpectedly happy.
At least he was one of her students.
At the same time.
Dumbledore, seated at the head of the table, narrowed his eyes and smiled when he spotted Dylan sitting down at the Gryffindor table.
"Ollivander is too cautious."
Two weeks ago, he received a letter from Ollivander.
The other man let him know about what happened when Dylan chose his wand and warned him to watch out.
In a bid not to let Dylan turn out like the next Tom.
But that young wizard didn't join Slytherin nor Ravenclaw, but was a Gryffindor by disposition with the knighthood mindset.
Therefore, he found Ollivander to be too fragile.
After all, it was just a matter of magical aptitude that the wand required. As long as the young wizard was properly taught, Tom's error would not be repeated.
"The Sorting Hat won't be able to sense that I am familiar with the Unforgivable Curses."
Once Dylan sat down and watched Dumbledore fail to appear even slightly suspicious of him, he exhaled in relief.
Occlumency was still hard for him to master.
And Dylan was also worried that he would overdo it. At the beginning, no one suspected him.
He cast Occlumency upon himself first.
When others saw this magic, they would definitely be wondering what he wanted to conceal.
Wouldn't it make him all the more suspicious?
"But honestly, the so-called three Unforgivable Curses are just so-so."
After a whole holiday of learning.
His comprehension of the three Unforgivable Curses was profound.
Don't believe what others say regarding these spells being cruel.
But at the time of the four creators, anarchy was the word for those times.
The papal purge, the witch-hunting mania.
Which magic and practice did they use at that time that was inhumane?
To Dylan, spells like Avada Kedavra and the Imperius Curse were anything but irredeemable.
They were peanuts compared to the genuinely wicked Dark Arts!
They were just a few greenhorns!
"But after so long, those Dark Arts surely lost most of their records, otherwise, how are these few spells able to become Unforgivable Curses?"
Harry and other first-years were successively sorted into various houses by the Sorting Hat.
The Sorting Ceremony was short.
Dumbledore waved his hand lightly.
Delicious and abundant food appeared in front of everybody.
Neville was hungry to begin with. His eyes gleamed, and he picked up a fork and knife and began cutting the roast meat in front of him.
Dylan also cut the steak in front of him slowly and ate mindlessly.
"If I got sorted into Hufflepuff, would we have delicious food every day?"
If he were to make a metaphor, then the Hufflepuff kitchen would be the school dormitory snack street downstairs.
You would go down below to buy food when you were hungry.
You didn't even need to go downstairs to live in the Hufflepuff dormitory. The kitchen was right outside the door.
"Whoosh~"
Suddenly, Nearly Headless Nick floated over slowly.
The house ghosts settled down as well.
Dylan remained silent, though many of little wizards around him, and a few second-year and third-year students too, moved away.
Nick drifted past Dylan and flew straight into Harry, sitting in his neighborhood.
Neville seemed to think he knew Dylan and opened up with him.
He was less awkward now. He ate talking with him here and there.
"You don't know what my great-uncle did to discover my magical ability!"
Dylan sat quietly, only repeating when Neville got excited.
He also occasionally looked at Harry, who sat a few seats away from him.
Little Harry was still shy at this time. He was sitting with Ron, but the little wizards around him were very curious about him.
Even if ghosts existed, they would not be able to prevent themselves from speaking.
"Dylan, you have so many spells. You're a pure-blood wizard, aren't you? I really did not think you'd go into Gryffindor."
Neville's voice was loud.
It made a lot of people glance.
Even Harry and Ron looked over.
Hermione's eyebrows were furrowed as she glared at Dylan.
"Pure-blood wizard? No, I am from a Muggle family." Dylan had nothing to hide and openly admitted his background.
"Ah? Muggle family? Dylan, you're joking!" Neville was taken aback, and the toad on his arm croaked.
"Why is that funny?" Dylan laughed, not taking it seriously.
"But. the spells you cast along the way do not seem like normal spells!" Neville's mouth fell open.
"Oh, I learned a lot of books and textbooks on holidays. These spells were taught to myself." Dylan explained easily.
But his words astonished and hit the little lions around him even more.
What kind of little wizard learns magic on holidays by himself?
Aren't holidays meant to be fun?
But there was a girl standing in the crowd whose eyes glowed. She was Hermione.
She sat up, swallowed the popping beads she had in her mouth, and looked at Dylan like she had found a secret friend.
She couldn't help comparing Dylan with herself.
Hearing Dylan report that he had not even read half of the books he had bought, especially the first-year textbooks, the whole holiday long.
She couldn't help being slightly proud.
She had already cased half of the first-year textbooks!
Not only did she, but she also bought some reference books apart from the textbooks!
But then, Dylan's words stunned her.
"It is not difficult to practice low-level magic. I do not think the materials in the textbooks are difficult to obtain, so I will pay attention to the professors in class."
"Apart from outside of the books, I've also been studying from "Advanced Transfiguration Guide" recently, but some of the questions are too profound. I still have to consult Professor McGonagall on how to do living transfiguration safely and stably once school starts."
Huh?!
