Nereus

 An empty sea surrounded by nothing but endless water, sparkling as the rising moon light hits, like little crystals on top of the water.

The fresh scent of the water hits my nose on top of a lonely boat with nothing but myself and a dream. I suddenly close my eyes as I rethink my life choices. What could have possibly led to this? I ask myself 

"Man I wish I had my mothers cooking" I start to reminisce about my old life when the tiny boat I was just on suddenly rocked "F*#k! What was that?" "Another wave?"

I take a look at my surroundings only to see still water with no motion in sight, staring at a mirror-like realm, I see some sort of shadow beyond it as my body slowly moves toward the edge of the boat mesmerized and dazed I snap back at my initial thought "What was the sudden movement, Nothing seemed to cause it?" forgetting what I was just doing I heard static "Shzz" "sszzx" "..Emer..gency" "....All citizens… evacuate.." " ..7… dan..gerr" 

"It's that stupid walkie talkie again, damn bot keeps repeating the same thing" as I was about to throw the speaker I thought about how I might need it sooner or later 'sighh' "I hope I see some people along the way, I don't even know where i'm going damn it!" Feeling frustrated and depressed, I start to feel sleepy "Man It's been so long since I had a good sleep " As I make my way to my sleeping "pod" I slowly take out the pendant embedded in my cargo pants, opening it up I take a look at the picture… It was a family photo with me, my mother and little brother. "I need to find them soon.." I take a deep breath as I place it back into my pants and start to drift to sleep.

Waking up to the sounds of migrating birds, I head to my makeshift kitchen. All I really have is canned food. It's all plain and bitter! "I really need to find some real food…." I groan just thinking about a nicely cooked meal especially if it's with my family! Looking around I see the sun rising all big, round, and seafoam color!... wait- SEAFOAM?? I spit out the cold plain beans out of my mouth and rub my eyes "What the actual fuc-" still rubbing my eyes like what I was seeing would magically return to normal "Now why does the sun look like another earth?? And why does it look so huge?!" Observing the mouth dropping scenery I was witnessing, it seemed like the sun was nowhere around? This new huge greenish blue ball of light seemed huge compared to our quite far away orangish red sun. "Why is it so… pretty?" "Damn it why am I like this ughh" 

Still trying to comprehend what I just saw, I remembered a recent article that was published… well that was before all this chaos happened something about, what was it some sort of unknown species s… si..r… As I was about to remember a sharp pain spread through my head..

"Ouchhhh what was that a migraine ?? I hate being sick" suddenly forgetting what I was thinking about and the prior discovery, I went back to my room and grabbed a map inside my drawer. Taking a closer look "Im somewhere in the pacific ocean.. I think ""Man I should have studied how to read a sonar chart" Kicking a can next to me I went to the sonar room and stared intensely at the readings seeing some "random" blinking dots.. "Was this thing always blinking?" ….. "Oh fuc-" 

Rushing towards the storage room in the lower deck of the boat near the makeshift kitchen I grabbed a small handgun and an iron sword. Putting on some military gear left behind by the previous owner I went back up "Shit.. Shit.. Shit" "I swear if im so dead if this is a level 5 or higher" as I was on the last step I suddenly dropped the sword in my hand 

"Humongous…" All I see near the horizon is a HUGE Ship which seems to be covered by steel and tungsten, all around, with a dark blue complexion that matches the sea, moving at a high pace. I dropped to the floor "People…" "I'VE FINALLY FOUND SOME PEOPLEE!!!" … 

"IS ANYONE IN THERE?" I heard some guy yell who seemed to be wearing some sort of marine attire 

"YESS!" I shouted my heart pounding i've been sailing for a couple weeks with no one or anything in sight slowly running out of rations 

Seeing this humongous ship up close I noticed there were many people onboard. It seemed like the ship was carrying refugees from all around the world. From the looks of it, it had many stations and rooms and this was just from a quick glance. Heading near the ship on top of my boat they deployed a ramp near the edge of my boat. 

"Hurry up, we don't go all day!" Some guy yelled "Alright give me a sec, I'm just tryna get my stuff man" he looked at me up and down and gave me a glaring look 'damn some people just don't have any patiences nowadays huh?' while I was thinking of some insults someone made me snap out of my train of thought 

"Hello there" someone said "don't mind that jackass over there he's just tired of new refugees" the same lady said, she looked like she was in her early twenties with gorgeous green eyes and wavy brown hair. She looked pretty tall 'wow she's beautiful' I thought.. Feeling suddenly dazed, I heard the same voice say "Having day dreams there, pretty boy?" 'shit- I forgot to respond, didn't I?' 'wait pretty boy?' she was still staring at me

 "Oh hi… sorry i'm still trying to get used to this big ship and all" I blurted out, making sure to avoid eye contact with her. 

"No worries" "So are you gonna introduce yourself, or should I call you pretty boy?" she smirked 

"No need, I'm Nereus you can just call me Nere though" I exclaimed 

"Okay Nere you can call me Aunty Iris" 

'AUNTY?!' "Aunty?" I said shocked 

"Wait..how old are you?" 

"You know hunny, did your parents ever tell you not to ask a woman's age?" She smiled 

I stood there startled by her words trying to comprehend what I just heard, while I was stunned she looked like she was holding in a laugh and started to walk away 'dammit what did I just do' who even is she 

" Dear I'm 30" she said while winking at me leaving me there to fend for myself on this huge ship
