Nys was a bit surprised. He had thought that Ellis would be displeased by his sudden intrusion, or even directly kick him out, but the other party was completely unaffected, as if he was just an ordinary bystander.
This made Nyx a little irritated. He casually knocked on the desktop and suddenly spoke, "These things you said are a bit different from the real Abyssal Laws."
The classroom was instantly silent, and the students held their breath, their eyes glittering with excitement.Gosh, they could actually hear a real demon evaluate their mentor's class in person!
Ellis stopped his pen and raised his eyes to look at Nyx, his expression still calm, "Then you explain?"
Nyx was slightly stunned. He had expected Ellis to rebut him or ignore him, but the other party actually directly asked him to speak?
The interest in his eyes intensified a little more, and he lazily stretched his back before tapping the desktop with his fingertips and said slowly, "What you just talked about are the basic rules of demonic contracts, but in reality, every demon's contracting method will be different. The Abyss's contract is not absolutely unchanging, but can be adjusted according to the demon's own will."
"In other words-" Nyx smiled slightly, a cunning light flashing in the red pupils of his eyes, "Even if it's the same contract, and a different demon executes it, the result could be completely different."
The students listened with bated breath, and someone couldn't help but ask, "Then how are we going to judge whether the contract is reliable or not?"
Nyx laughed softly and said in a mysterious manner, "It's simple - you should never trust demons."
At this statement, the students looked at each other in disbelief, some frowning, some pondering, while Ellis just looked at him faintly, his gaze slightly cooler.
He didn't refute Nyx immediately, but after a short silence, he slowly spoke, "Nyx is right, there are indeed variables in a demon's pact, so if you must deal with a demon-" Ellis paused, his gaze sweeping over all the students andfinally landing on Nyx, his tone light as he adds, "-then you must be more astute than the demon in the terms of the contract."
Nyx: "...", he suddenly had the feeling of being targeted.
But Ellis's attitude was just too calm, instead, Nyx couldn't entertain the thought of retorting.
After a moment, he shrugged his shoulders and revealed an innocent smile, "Well, I admit, your students won't be fooled so easily at least."
Ellis withdrew his gaze and resumed his lecture while Nyx rested his cheeks and observed him with interest. The lesson had been unexpectedly interesting. He was kind of looking forward to what else he would see here next.
After the lesson ended, the students gathered their books and left the classroom, but they still couldn't help but flick their eyes towards Nyx.After all, the chance to see a real demon with their own eyes and talk to their mentor was not something that came along every day.
Nyx leaned back in his chair indifferently, one hand casually twirling the quill on his desk, a hint of a smile, if any, at the corner of his mouth, and it was only when the people in the classroom gradually dispersed that he slowly stood up and stretched lazily.
Ellis had already gathered his things and was about to leave when he saw Nyx following him nonchalantly.
"What?"Ellis gave him a sideways glance.
Nyx shrugged, looking bored out of his mind, "Nothing, just don't know what to do next."
Ellis looked at him lightly, "Aren't you free?"
"Free?"Nyx blinked, the corners of his mouth turning up slightly, "You know, freedom for demons is relative."
Ellis didn't answer, just continued walking in the direction of the academy.Nyx hadn't expected him to respond, and just followed casually, surveying his surroundings as he did so.
After walking for a while, Ellis finally spoke, "What do you want to do?"
Nyx grinned, revealing a mouthful of sharp tiger teeth, "You'd probably warn me if I just said I wanted to play a prank, wouldn't you?"
Ellis did stop and turned his head to look at him, his tone calm, "You've been tattled on a couple times already."
"Oh?"Nyx raised an eyebrow, "Then why haven't you come to accuse me?"
"I was observing."Ellis said lightly, "You haven't done anything that would really affect the order of the academy, so there's no point in caring."
Nyx looked at him with some surprise, then burst out laughing, "You're quite the funny man."
