Chapter 8.

Nyx let out a laugh and narrowed his eyes, "You're not trying to make me feel free, are you?"

Ellis didn't respond, still reading quietly as if he hadn't even heard.

Nyx wasn't annoyed either, shrugging casually and leaning back in his chair to himself, "Never mind, you can't control me anyway."

Ellis turned over a page of his book, his tone not light, "I don't want to control you."

Nyx's mouth stiffened slightly.

Ellis added calmly, "You're just my research subject."

Nyx: "..."

For the first time, he felt like he might be ignored.Being a demon who likes to brush up on his presence, Nyx jotted down another entry in his little notebook: brush up on his presence.

After breakfast, Ellis cleaned up the dishes and casually flipped through his book to confirm today's class schedule, while Nyx lazily leaned back in his chair, playing with his fingernails in boredom, glancing at Ellis every now and then with a thoughtful look in his eyes.

"What's your schedule for today?"Nyx finally spoke up, his tone casual as if he was making small talk.

Ellis closed his book and said lightly, "Going to class."

"Oh?"Nyx raised an eyebrow, "What about me?"

"As you wish."Ellis added after a moment, "But stay out of trouble."

Nyx snorted, his eyes filled with disbelief at the admonition.

Ellis ignored him and got up to change into his tutor robes, ready to head to class.Nyx, meanwhile, leaned against the door with his arms wrapped around him, watching Ellis meticulously straighten his cuffs, and suddenly asked, "You're really not going to let me cooperate with the teaching?"

Ellis glanced at him and said calmly, "Maybe if you don't bullshit me."

Nyx smiled meaningfully, "That would be too hard."

Without another word, Ellis pushed off while Nyx followed him leisurely, seemingly with no intention of being left alone.

When they reached the academy, Ellis walked straight into the classroom while Nyx stayed at the door, glancing around the human academy with a flicker of interest in his eyes.

The human scholars here looked at him with a bit of curiosity and awe. After all, a real demon hanging around the academy was something unprecedented.

Nyx curled his lips, thinking that this place might be a lot more interesting than he thought.Since Ellis didn't have anything for him to do, it would be good for him to have some fun on his own.

Instead of leaving right away, Nyx leaned against the wall outside the classroom, listening to Ellis' lesson with boredom.Although he didn't have much interest in the human teaching system, he had to admit that Ellis's voice in lecturing had a charm that made people focus, cool and calm, just like the moonlight flowing in the late night, so that people couldn't help but listen to it, faint but equally deep.

In the classroom, Ellis was using a magic projection to show some complicated theory of demonology, and the students were intently taking notes.Nyx listened for a while and couldn't help but roll his eyes. These guys were really overly serious, obviously this stuff was as boring to them as asking an abyssal creature to study the construction of an angel's feather.

He originally didn't want to go in, but as he listened, he realized that what Ellis was talking about would occasionally mention demonic behavior patterns, contract rules, and some of the basic concepts of the Laws of the Abyss.Nyx raised an eyebrow, suddenly coming to a point of interest.

So he pushed open the door nonchalantly and walked in nonchalantly, casually pulling out a chair and sitting down in front of all the students' surprised gazes, propping up his face with one hand and watching Ellis with interest.

"Go on."The corner of Nyx's lips curled slightly, making a gesture of invitation.

The classroom became instantly quiet, all the students' eyes scanning back and forth between Ellis and Nyx, fearing that their mentor would blow the demon out of the room in the next second.

However, Ellis just gave Nyx a calm look, not repelling or pausing, but continuing to explain his content.
