Riven's eyes shot open, he jerked up in a panic, immediately touching his body all over. "I'm alive," he said, his tone elated. He looked around and realized that he was back in the library, sitting on the floor.
All the books and shelves that had been thrown down were back in order, like nothing had ever happened inside.
[Trial Completed, Time till next Trial: 29 days/23 hrs/40 minutes]
A red translucent screen suddenly popped up right in front of him, he jerked back, hitting the back of his head against a table. -BAM- "Ouch," he cried out, rubbing the back of his head.
He stared at the screen in front of him, he had read of this sort of thing in many books, even in Hero's obsessed harem. The protagonist got a system immediately when he became the chosen one.
"Wait, did I just get a system as well?" Riven asked, his eyes widened in disbelief, and then his lips curled up into a smile.
If he got a system, then his chances of rewriting the story of Riven Von Grave just got better. He read the information on the screen, it was then he realized that he would be having another trial in a month's time.
"I'll have to go through something like that again? I nearly died in this one, you have to be kidding me," he complained. He let out a tired sigh, it's not like he had a choice, beggars couldn't choose.
"Let's see if this works like in the novels," Riven said, "stats!" he called out, and even though he expected it, he was still shocked when the screen changed into a stat screen.

Riven took his time to read everything in his stats, it seemed like the regular stats he knew from novels, but there were a lot of differences in his own.
His status didn't have an EXP bar, which meant he couldn't gather EXP to level up. That made him worry about how he would level up.
There were also no points that he could use to buy things from the system. These were things that he always saw in novels, but he didn't have any.
The next thing that caught his attention was his affinities, Blood and Fire. Riven in the story had no affinities, he learned the sword later in his life when he was forced to join the army, but that was all.
As he thought about those things, he remembered the book. He got on his feet, looking around for the book, but he couldn't find it. The only book there was the autobiography that he had dropped on the table.
He looked through the shelves, trying to find the book, his eyes darted around for the unusual books, but he couldn't find it.
Suddenly, footsteps echoed inside the library, Riven's eyes shot in the direction of the door, he saw his father, the Baron, standing there and looking at him.
The Baron's arms were folded, his eyes staring daggers into Riven.
"Father."
"A maid told me you were headed for the library, she found it heavily unusual, and so do I. So what are you doing here, Riven?" His father spoke, his tone carried weight, letting Riven know that lies or tricks would not work here.
"I'm sorry if my actions caused any worry, I simply wanted to do some reading," Riven said, he stared into the eyes of his father, showing respect, while still looking confident.
"Reading? You have been my son for thirteen years now, and in that time, this is the first time you have walked into the library. Do not lie to me, what are you doing here?
Your behavior has been off ever since breakfast, you are not planning something stupid, are you? Because if you are, I'll punish you not as a father, but as a Baron," his father said, his eyes closed into slits as he spoke.
"I'm sorry father, I don't know how to explain it, but I am not planning anything, I promise," Riven said. His father stared at him, his gaze sharper than a blade.
"I don't know what your plan is, but be careful, Riven," he said, he turned and walked out of the library.
Riven heaved a sigh of relief after his father left, his heart raced, he couldn't believe how much pressure one man was able to put on him.
Riven felt like he had enough library for today, he headed out of the library. He headed back to his room, walking at a brisk pace, he passed by a small hallway, but didn't notice that someone was inside.
After he had gone a small distance, his father walked out of the hallway, he looked at Riven's departing figure and frowned, before turning back into the hallway and walking away.
Riven made it back to his room, he opened the door and walked in, he made sure to shut the door behind him before walking to his bed.
He was about to call the stat screen again, but like the first time, his eyes spotted the book on his desk. He jumped off the bed, rushing to his desk. He took a closer look at the book, and it was the book without a doubt. The question was how the book got into his room?
He touched the back of the book and it unlocked, -Click-. The book began opening on its own, Riven retreated back instantly, the fear of what had happened in the library was still fresh in his mind.
But this time was different, the book opened to the first page, and there was something written on it. Riven approached the book with caution. He looked at the page from a safe distance.
The writing on the book was unlike anything he had seen before, but somehow, Riven could tell what it was, it was a spell, (flame blast)
