Jaden stirred awake to the shrill ringing of his phone, the sound slicing through the peaceful silence of the room like a blade. He groaned, dragging a hand down his face as he reached for the device on the nightstand. The faint glow of the screen illuminated his sharp features, and his jaw tightened when he saw the name flashing across the screen. 


His mood soured instantly. Tightening his grip on the phone, he sat up, his movements slow and deliberate. The sight of Anna sprawled awkwardly on the couch caught his attention. Her arm dangled off the edge, her robe slightly askew, and her soft snores filled the room. 


For a brief moment, Jaden’s irritation softened. But the persistent ringing shattered the fleeting calm, pulling his attention back to the phone. Clenching his teeth, he swung his legs off the bed and rose, moving toward the balcony with quiet determination.
