Chapter 60- Anna's Anguish

Anna tossed and turned, the weight of her situation pressing down on her chest like a stone. Sleep evaded her as her mind spun with possibilities and fears. The narrow escape replayed endlessly, each iteration leaving her more shaken than the last.

She turned to look at Jaden, who lay sleeping beside her. His breathing was deep and even, his chiseled face relaxed in a way she rarely saw during the day. The man who haunted her with his sharp eyes and commanding presence seemed almost human in this state.

Anna bit her lip, her fingers clenching the edge of the blanket. If she slipped out now, she could try again. Maybe Jaden wouldn’t check the office until later in the day, giving her enough time to search for the file.

But the memory of how close she had come to being caught stopped her. If she failed again, it would be the end for her. Jaden would never forgive betrayal.
