Chapter - 17 Goodbye forsaken routine (1)

A thin thread of spectacular light trailed above the cityscape.

Passing over the city the vast scrape of buildings. The view of the grand building seemingly shot past her with hues of decorated colored grounds auditioned with tails of blurry excess from the whole host buildings.

Nevertheless, the thin trail of spectacular light transversed within the sky yet this formation was a sight none could see.

The speed at which it hurled was so swift that none without the proper power could view its marvel.

This view was caused by Evelyn's relative position and her constant movement above the escape of towering glass buildings.

Evelyn's mind was in turmoil, a torpor of sorts.

Why?

Whose nuancing feverish thoughts again plagued her mind. Months have passed since the event, and each grueling second was a battle of coping.

While doing such a thing is not difficult in the slightest. Evelyn still dismissed her natural capabilities

Rather opting to force herself to reconcile in such thoughts.

It was a means to an end.

A punishment for her own weakness.

'Damn with my weakness..' Evelyn steely spoke internally.

It was just so abrupt.

Just why… Just why… Just why… why…

Why,

Why,

why,

why,

why,

why,

why!….

The pleasures that those echoes of the past brought.

A smile,

A laugh,

Cries of joy!

Within such a cold and dismissive world one would easily forget the impression that the simple things brought.

Constant war and bloodshed would numb such a person.

Though emotions were still present within Evelyn.

They were only just that.

Present within her life.

Alleviating the propulsion of her body, Evelyn slowly descended from the clouds and gradually towards the earth.

The travel from the Empire's center and residence was several hundred miles.

Her short little venture between both bodies cost her several seconds,

Via a soft landing, Evelyn rested her feet against the yard's soft exterior.

The cold air wafted through her silk-like hair.

Continuing her leg movement, she unconsciously walked towards her estate's entrance.

The slick silver door met her gaze and in a routined movement, she gingerly placed her palm against the door's sensor.

Entering the fine estate Evelyn was met with the same mundane view of her house's innards.

Within the living room rested Alex whose body was faced towards the large reinforced paned glass.

His expression was vacant, seemingly dismissive, stoic would not be the correct adjective to describe the depth of his current demeanor.

His emerald green eyes mustard a weighty focus towards the distant landscape of dusk

The night was soon to come, the sky was splashed with a dim azure blue muddled with a glimmer of warm pigments.

The sun's departing body was viewed, its scarlet accents visible from its figure's outlines, the warm casting of subtle rays dimmed slowly as the darkness of night crept.

His face was slightly illuminated by these warm rays.

"Hey mum," Alexander replied, detecting Evelyn's presence.

Alex's gaze was still locked towards the sun.

Evelyn merely gave a small nod and gesture in response.

Tearing his gaze from the vista before him Alex gazed towards Evelyn.

Analysing Evelyn's current expression, Alex Furrowed his brow.

Though it was the same somber expression he had seen for the past few months…

This current donning of the expression held a greater vex of emotion than the others.

'This may be one of the few chances I may be able to garner' Alexander internally mused.

'For the past six months other than doing that shity training,' complained Alex

'I've viewed Alex's mother, from the routine month visit to who knows where, I've taken account for her every response and subtle action,'

'As such every visit to said place Evelyn's demeanor is always that of ill content and negative stirring.'

'From my careful analysis I can safely assume she is experiencing grief, but why?" Alex smirked

Remaining silent for a while, Alex eventually continued his blaze of thought.

'From the lack of a spouse, I can only assume that the individual or Alex's father is currently diseased.' Alex rationalized

'Such an augmentation of negative emotions tends to confuse rational decision' Alexander chucked internally.

'Why not take advantage of this, and strike while the iron is still hot?'

'Sorrow huh' he grinned 'Useful'
