He failed the Quest. I took the reward.
The sword was still warm when she pulled it from his corpse.
"Oops." She muttered, shaking blood from the blade. "Guess that’s mine now."
"Quest Completed -Slay the Shadow King. Reward - title 'Hero of Light'
She blinked.
"...I didn’t even do the quest."
Behind her, the battlefield was silent, smoke curling, bodies still. The actual Hero, the golden boy of prophecy, lay at her feet.
"New title acquired - Hero of Light. New class unlocked - Monarch."System said.
She adjusted her gloves, gave the body one last glance, and turned toward the sound of approaching boots. Soldiers. Clerics. Survivors. All looking for a hero. She pulled the hood over her head and stepped into the flames glow.
"The quest is complete."Her voice, altered. Smooth. Male.
She smiled behind the mask.
