Chapter 5: Adapting to the Environment

Angel along with his new companion who he named Hopper had been walking for 5 minutes until Angel's spatial perception picked up on something. On their left he saw a boar ramming its head on a tree.

Angel signaled Hopper to follow quietly. After getting a close distance, they saw a clear view of the boar. It was slightly larger than a boar from Earth with four crystal tusks shining along its mouth.

Angel's eyes glowed but he couldn't see any core in the boar just a white aura around it.

'Hmm its not a spirit beast must be a regular species of animal in this world .'

'Wonder if it's edible I'm gonna need something to eat soon, I probably should of asked for something to eat before going through the teleportation gate.'

'I can't eat raw meat though and I don't know how to make a fire.'

As Angel was contemplating what to do, the boar suddenly stopped banging it's head against the tree and lifted it's snout. Smelling the air it suddenly let out an enraged squeal and turned towards where Angel and Hopper were standing.

Stomping on the ground while letting out another angry squeal the boar started charging at them. Seeing the big boar that was 40 meters away was charging straight towards them Angel started to panic a little but he calmed himself down quickly.

"Hopper hit it with as many of those horned energy attacks as you can"

Hopper hopped into action right away, charging his horn with energy while pointing it straight at the boar. A horned shape beam of energy soon came piercing the face of boar instantly killing it.

Seeing how it only took one of those attacks to kill the boar instantly Angel's pupils widened. One thought came to mind.

'I should be dead'

' If that had hit me when Hopper tried to attack me I'd be dead on the spot it was a miracle that I was able to barely dodge it or else'

Sweating buckets Angel turned to look at the horned rabbit who was staring at him innocently while turning it head from side to side as if wondering why it's master looked so terrified.

'It does makes sense that he's so strong, after all he is a spirit beast.'

Turning his attention back to the boar that was lying on the floor with blood seeping out its head Angel decides to inspect the corpse. His eyes started to glow again and he saw that the white aura around the boar was still there.

An irresistible urge came over him making him place his hand on the body of the boar. Letting the urge take over Angel's hand touched the boar. Angel suddenly felt a revitalizing feeling over his body. He closed his eyes enjoying this feeling. While that was happening the corpse of the boar started to wither a little.

A minute later after he opened his eyes. He had just siphoned the aura out of the boar and into himself, Angel was able to feel that the energy had strengthened him just slightly.

'I wonder if this is what my animus ability is, to absorb all kinds of energies and enhance myself in the process.'

'It would make sense why I was able to absorb the soul engraving and why when I used the teleportation gate I gained spacial perception.'

'What else am I capable of, I wonder what would happen if i absorb a spirit core.' He thought while looking over at Hopper .

Putting that thought on the back of his mind he looked down to see the body of the boar had become a shallow empty husk now.

Shaking his head at the horrific sight of what he had caused Angel turned towards the tree wondering why the boar was so fixated on it. Walking up to it the he looked up to see what seemed to be a 4 round blue colored fruits hanging from the tree.

'Hopefully those things are edible after getting stronger my appetite seemed to having gotten a boost as well'

Angel picked up Hopper and said , "Hopper I'm going to need to throw you up there so you can drop the fruits to me."

Hopper nodded and readied itself. Angel propelled the rabbit up to the tree. Landing safely on a branch Hopper gnawed on the stem of the fruits one by one causing them to fall down towards Angel. Hopper then jumped off the 16 meter tall tree and gracefully landed with no problem.

Looking at the fruits in his hand he was wondering if he should eat them or not. Jusas he decided to try and take a bite of one of the fruits he felt Hopper gnawing on his shoes.

He looked down at the horned rabbit that looked at him with pleading eyes.

" Do you you want some buddy, here since you helped me get them I'll give you half the share." Handing over two fruits to him the rabbit started to feast on it's meal.

Waiting to see if the fruits were safe to eat he watched Hopper gobbled down both of them in a matter of seconds. Next thing you know his horn started to extend a little and Hopper seemed to grow in size as well make him as big as a cat.

'So these fruits can help him grow in power no wonder he wanted them so badly.'

Angel decided to eat his fruits as well to see if it had any effects on him. It took a second but soon he started to feel his muscles and bones were becoming stronger. He felt as if his whole physique had gotten stronger.

Wanting to test out his new found strength he went up to the fruit tree and punched it, creating a sizable sized hole on the tree.

'I should be able to fight alongside Hopper now.' He thought to himself

"Come on Hopper let's get moving hopefully we can find a place to sleep before nightfall" he looked up noticing the night sky getting dark.
