Letisha’s POV
I followed Amanda into her office, somehow more nervous now than when I had been here for the first time. Even though I knew her a bit better now than I had then, being alone with her was somehow more nerve-wracking.
I found myself wishing Adrian hadn’t rejected Amanda’s offer to join us for the meeting. He had insisted on waiting in the reception area so he ‘wouldn’t disturb my work’.
“Would you like something to drink?” Amanda asked as I took a seat.
“No, thank you,” I answered softly, clutching my soldier tightly in my lap.
Amanda watched me closely for a minute. “Is there a problem?”
I started in surprise. “Problem? No. No problem.”
Amanda’s lips tilted upward in a knowing smile. “Are you wondering why I fired my agent instead of having you thrown out of my building?”
I blushed. “The thought might have crossed my mind…” I admitted.
