Chapter 26: The Wheel of Fate

Isaac’s POV

I was the one who called Adam away. I shouldn’t have done it, I should have let Elina figure it out, but… in that moment, I felt she needed a hand.

I leaned back in my chair, my gaze fixed on the endless wall of monitors that lit up the darkened room. The hum of servers echoed softly in the background like a second heartbeat. Each screen displayed a live feed from a different part of the city—streets, subways, and rooftops. The surveillance network was originally built by my company for the government. What they didn’t know was that I’d built in backdoor access—just in case.

Today, I used it to monitor Elina’s progress.

She had done well so far. Navigating backstreets, ducking under awnings, using her powers in clever, subtle ways that wouldn’t draw attention. I saw her melt into crowds when needed. She wasn’t perfect, but she was learning. And I was proud.
