I attempted to grasp their necks, but my hands passed right through their bodies.
The two remained entwined, completely unaffected.
An overwhelming tide of hatred nearly consumed me.
I swore that if I had another chance, I would make him pay dearly!
Perhaps the heavens heard my prayer.
After a bout of dizziness,
I suddenly opened my eyes.
I tentatively pinched my own cheek.
I could feel the pain.
I was alive again.
I hurriedly grabbed my phone to check the time.
The date was exactly one day before my car accident.
Brent came in carrying a freshly made sandwich, affectionately planting a kiss on my forehead.
"Morning, darling! Perfect timing, breakfast is ready. Didn't you say you wanted to take our son on a trip for Memorial Day? The car's all gassed up, so we can go wherever you'd like."
"Oh, and that mountain just outside of town has been pretty popular lately. People say it's got some kind of spiritual energy - everyone who visits ends up striking it rich. Why don't you check it out, darling? Who knows, I might even land a big client!"
Looking at his fawning, ingratiating expression, I was so furious I could barely breathe.
In my past life, this was how he had lured me to take our child mountain climbing.
The hospital near that mountain just happened to be short on blood supplies. He certainly had it all figured out!
But I knew it wasn't time to openly confront him yet.
He caused my son and I to die horribly - I must have my revenge on him!
Suppressing my rage, I was about to take the sandwich.
But then my son in the next room started crying.
Remembering how my son died right in front of me in his past life.
I quickly got out of bed to pick him up and comfort him.
The joy of getting him back after losing him moved me to tears.
Brent didn't know whether to laugh or cry as he wrapped his arms around me and our son.
"Why are you crying too? If the baby cries and you cry, I can't comfort two people at once."
"I heard Cartier just released a new bracelet. Why don't I buy it for you as an anniversary gift?"
He did indeed buy that bracelet in his past life.
But he ended up giving it to Vivienne.
I pushed down my hatred and nodded with a smile.
"Sounds good. Are you free this afternoon? I want to go buy some clothes for our son. The weather's warming up and he's grown so much, last year's clothes don't fit anymore."
Brent was preoccupied thinking about tomorrow's car accident plan.
He didn't notice the calculating look in my eyes.
Hastily agreeing to my request, he left for work with his breakfast.
As soon as he was out the door, I immediately contacted a friend to investigate Vivienne.Vivienne brings the child along, and Brent, for convenience of care, surely rents a place not far from home.
Two hours later, a friend sends a message with the location.
Just as I thought.
To make it easy for Vivienne to care for the child, he's rented a place near the mall.
Prime location, even a small apartment costs ten grand a month in rent.
Brent's really splashing out for this mistress.
After thanking my friend, I turn off my phone.
I don't know if my son senses something's off with me, but he stops crying too.
His grape-sized black eyes blink at me.
Brent is guilty.
But our child is innocent.
Even without him, I'm determined to raise our child safely and healthily!
After leaving home with my son, I head straight for that mall.
I buy some new clothes for my son and sit in a café waiting for Brent to get off work.
And waiting for Vivienne too.
Five in the afternoon.
Sure enough, she appears right on time.
Walking around the mall with the child.
Not a trace of hardship on her face.
