Chapter 73: Transfer Student

January 5th, Oak High School reopened.

Roy parked his brand-new yellow Chevrolet Camaro by the roadside, and then Jennifer and Niddy got out of the car.

Passing students all ran over to say hello to Roy.

"Hey, Grim Reaper!"

Yeah, Roy's nickname "Grim Reaper" had completely spread, and now even some acquaintances would use it to greet him.

Jennifer looked at the scene with some emotion.

"In another half a year, we'll be leaving this school. It's quite something to think about."

Whenever graduation season approached, sentimental people would always have a lot of feelings, and Niddy deeply agreed.

Roy didn't really feel much, after all, he had only been here for three or four months since he transmigrated, so he didn't have that deep of an attachment to Oak High School yet.

"Jennifer, have you decided which university you want to go to?"

In the past few days, quite a few universities had contacted Roy, offering very generous conditions, some even bringing along female university students to try and hook him.

Yeah, many universities went all out when recruiting rising sports stars; it was practically an arms race.

There were even dedicated clubs in many universities, filled with beautiful female university students of all ethnicities, specifically for recruiting athletes.

American newspapers had reported on such scandals more than once, but they were never really stopped.

After all, the high school sports stars got to enjoy university "services" early, the beautiful university students earned credits, and the universities gained fame by recruiting top athletes.

No one in this chain of benefits lost out, so naturally, it was widely adopted.

As a result, most American universities started playing this game, with only a few old, prestigious schools that weren't very interested in sports not joining this arms race.

However, Roy hadn't made a decision yet. On one hand, graduation was still a while away, so he could still let these universities offer better deals.

On the other hand, he also wanted to see which university Jennifer would go to.

In America, getting into good schools wasn't just about having good grades; you also needed recommendation letters or influential people to lobby for you.

If your grades were just average and you didn't have any special talents or family background, you would still be scrutinized by good universities, unless your grades were as outstanding as Niddy's.

With Niddy's top-notch academic performance and Roy's athletic talent, it wasn't a matter of universities choosing them, but rather them choosing universities.

"I... I haven't really thought about it yet."

Jennifer looked hesitant, and Niddy took her hand.

"It's okay, we still have plenty of time to think about it slowly! Anyway, we'll definitely be able to get into the same university in the end, right, Roy?"

"Mhm!"

Roy replied casually, but in his heart, he was already thinking about whether he could use Jennifer as one of the conditions when negotiating with those universities.

This kind of thing wasn't uncommon in America. Anyway, these schools weren't short of one or two students, and as long as their grades were above the passing line, they would usually turn a blind eye.

"Jennifer, why don't you think about which city you want to go to?"

Niddy offered another suggestion, and Jennifer tilted her head to think for a moment.

"If I want to stay close to home, it would definitely be Austin, but I've been to Austin many times, and it doesn't really feel like anything special. For other cities in Texas, there's Houston or Dallas, but they don't seem that different either..."

Roy shook his head. How could choosing a university just be about how close it was to home?

"Jennifer, have you thought about what kind of job you want to do in the future?"

This question made Jennifer pause. She really hadn't thought about it carefully. After all, just a month ago, she was still working hard to earn money for her university tuition.

Roy and Niddy had already made their plans.

Niddy was planning to enter the computer industry, but her computer skills already surpassed those of many university computer science professors. All she lacked now was a diploma.

As for Roy, he would definitely pursue boxing, a profession that made money quickly and required little effort. Just fight for a few years and unify the four major boxing organizations, and he could earn enough money to last a lifetime. Wouldn't that be great?

Seeing the flicker in Jennifer's eyes, Roy knew that she probably already had some ideas in her mind, but she was just embarrassed to say them out loud, afraid of being laughed at or making the wrong choice.

Roy had felt this way himself when choosing his major in his previous life.

"Jennifer, you don't need to make a decision right now. Why don't you go back and think about it carefully?"

The three of them chatted as they entered the classroom. Just then, the school bell rang, and the beautiful teacher, Elizabeth, walked into the classroom.

After entering, Elizabeth first gave Roy a subtle wink, as if hinting at something, before she started speaking.

"Good morning, class! I'm happy to see you all after the Christmas break. Did everyone have a good holiday?"

The students all said they had a great holiday.

"Before we start today's first lesson, I have a new student to introduce to you all! Nancy, please come in!"

Elizabeth waved towards the door, and a pure-looking brunette girl walked in somewhat nervously.

"Nancy, why don't you introduce yourself?"

The brunette girl looked a little tense, especially after a few boys whistled at her.

"H-hello everyone, my name is Nancy Thompson. I used to live in Elm Street, and I'm very happy to meet you all."

Elizabeth took the lead in clapping, and the students quickly followed with applause, which made Nancy shyly lower her head.

"Welcome, Nancy! Nancy, you can go sit over there. If you have any questions, you can ask Mr. Black; he's the top dog in this class!"

Huh? When did I become the top dog in this class?

Just as Roy was feeling surprised, Nancy walked over and sat down in front of Roy.

This seat was originally Billy the Ghostface Killer's seat, and no one dared to sit there after he died.

Seeing Roy sitting behind her, Nancy shyly extended her hand.

"Hello!"

Roy shook Nancy's hand and gave her a sunny smile.

Nancy's pure and beautiful face made Roy feel like he had seen her somewhere before, which made him forget to let go of her hand for a moment.

It wasn't until Jennifer coughed beside him that Roy realized he was being a bit forward.

At this point, Nancy's face was already flushed red, but surprisingly, there was no sign of resistance on her face.

Roy quickly withdrew his hand and apologized.

"Sorry, I just spaced out for a moment!"

"N-no problem!"

Seeing Nancy's expression that seemed to be both wanting to refuse and wanting to accept, the boys in the classroom collectively sighed, feeling like another innocent girl was about to be captured by Roy.

Wade couldn't help but hug his head and lie down on his desk.

"Roy, give us a break! Because of you, I haven't been able to find a girlfriend in all four years of high school!"

Hearing this, Roy shrugged.

"You can't completely blame me for that, right? Sometimes you also need to think about your own problems, like the fact that you're not handsome enough."

The classroom immediately erupted in laughter, and Wade's friends laughed especially loudly.

"Alright, class, that's enough chatting for now. Let's start our lesson!"

Nancy Thompson (Heather Langenkamp)

It's really hard to find good photos of her when she was young. This one is considered quite pretty.
