After class, Jennifer carefully shook off Needy and went to find Roy.
"Roy, how are the preparations for Needy's birthday going?"
"Don't worry, Jennifer, I'm definitely going to give her a huge surprise!"
Roy had indeed done quite a bit of preparation, including buttering up the principal to borrow the school auditorium on January 12th.
"I've also prepared some surprises for Needy. I absolutely want to make her 19th birthday unforgettable!"
"Then let's just see whose birthday gift Needy likes more!"
This made Jennifer think of the skiing competition in Aspen, and she couldn't help but snort.
"You're going to lose this time for sure!"
"We'll see about that."
Just then, Teacher Elizabeth suddenly sidled up to them.
"Roy, come to the office with me!"
"Okay, Teacher Elizabeth."
Elizabeth had a private office at Oak High School. As soon as they entered, she closed the door and then grabbed Roy's tie, pulling him closer.
"Little Roy, why didn't you call me during the holidays?"
"Cough, cough! You almost choked me! I did try to contact you, but the phone wouldn't go through!"
Roy would never forget something like that. He texted the "fish" in his "fishpond" every night before bed.
Each session would last for half an hour, sometimes even an hour, which seriously affected Roy's sleep.
But what could he do? He chose this path himself!
Elizabeth looked genuinely surprised.
"Oh, it turns out I had turned off my phone myself. I'm so sorry, Roy. I completely misunderstood you."
Roy rolled his eyes. Although Elizabeth's acting was pretty convincing, he could still tell she was faking it, probably just making up some excuse.
"You brought me here just to say that?"
"What? Can't Teacher Elizabeth give you a little extra help with biology?"
Roy gave her a sidelong glance. She clearly had something else on her mind.
Elizabeth quickly stopped herself.
"Wait, I have class in a bit! There's something else I wanted to talk to you about!"
"What is it? Class is about to start if you don't tell me."
Elizabeth sat on the edge of her desk.
"What do you think of the transfer student who came today?"
"She's pretty cute. Why?"
"Who asked you that? I smelled a peculiar scent on that girl, possibly related to demons. I need you to find a way to deal with it!"
Another demon? What on earth is going on in Waterfall Town?
"Which demon?"
"Who knows? Maybe you can rely on your… talents to figure out what's wrong with her."
Roy opened his mouth, speechless. Were they asking him to use his charm? That was too much!
"Why don't you take care of it yourself? If you did, it would definitely be much easier than for me!"
Elizabeth shook her head.
"After I got back from vacation, I smelled the scent of an old friend in town. Someone from Heaven has been here. I absolutely cannot expose myself at a time like this!"
The corner of Roy's mouth twitched. He felt Waterfall Town was getting more and more dangerous. Maybe he should just move out as soon as possible.
"I understand. I'll find a way to figure things out."
Hearing Roy's promise, Elizabeth was very pleased.
"Good boy, your teacher will reward you later!"
Was she trying to哄小孩子 (coax a child)?
In the hallway, Roy walked towards the classroom, pondering the issue of the transfer student Nancy, completely unaware that Jennifer was waiting for him.
"What did Teacher Elizabeth say to you?"
Jennifer suddenly spoke, startling Roy.
"Oh, Jennifer, you scared me! It wasn't a big deal. Teacher Elizabeth just asked me to look after Nancy and help her get used to the new school."
Roy quickly came up with a response that sounded quite reasonable.
"Is that so?"
Jennifer suddenly moved closer to Roy and sniffed him.
This action made Roy's heart skip a beat. He had just been quite close to the beautiful teacher, and he was sure he had her scent on him.
However, after Jennifer sniffed him, she didn't mention the smell on him.
"Roy, that woman is very dangerous. You'd better stay away from her!"
At this moment, Roy felt that Jennifer's aura had changed, as if she had become a different person.
She exuded both aloofness and allure, two seemingly opposite qualities that somehow blended perfectly within her.
He thought to himself, Jennifer, you've got some pretty big problems yourself right now, don't you?
Roy hugged Jennifer and patted her on the back.
"Jennifer, don't think too much about it. I know what I'm doing."
Just then, the class bell rang, and a balding male teacher with thick glasses walked over.
"Oh, Mr. Black, do you need me to give you some space?"
This teacher knew Roy, so he was teasing him.
Jennifer's demeanor instantly returned to normal. Two red spots appeared on her cheeks, and she pushed Roy away, rushing into the classroom.
Seeing this, Roy shrugged.
"Teacher Mills, if only you could have been a few minutes later."
"That won't do. The principal would dock my pay! Alright, hurry up and go in."
Shrugging, Roy walked into the classroom.
The first day of the new semester's classes ended quickly. Roy went to the boxing club to practice for a while as usual, but he didn't expect to have guests there today.
"Hey, Roy, you made it."
Lambert smiled and greeted Roy, then introduced him to his guests: a chubby middle-aged white man and a tall, sturdy black man built like an iron tower.
"This is my senior classmate, Alan Berg, who's a boxing coach at UCLA. This is his student, Bruce Eck. And this is Roy. The two behind him are his, uh, good friends."
Hearing this, the middle-aged white man frowned slightly.
