Even if it felt as though a wedge stood between us, I knew Grey seriously cared about Mom. I even think he cared for mother more than he cared for me, but it wasn't a big deal to me though.

“Lily, answer me.” He held both my shoulders to capture my attention and his intense gray eyes pierced my own. “Did something bad happen to her?” He asked, but the words barely emerged from his lips. I noticed the look of fear I saw in his eyes now was the same expression that haunted my face when I learned Mom was in the hospital.

“She passed out on the floor—” I replied, but I barely finished the words because he cut me off.

“Did she hit her head on the floor?” His worry clearly showed on his face.

I shook my head and replied, “she was lucky because Celine was there to catch her when she fell..”
