Chapter 27 MAYBE I SHOULD FORGET ABOUT LIORA!

RONAN'S POV:

I sat back in my chair, staring blankly at the computer screen, my mind far from the work in front of me. The soft hum of the air conditioner was the only sound in the room until my phone rang, snapping me back to reality.

"Hey, Mum," I answered.

"Ronan," she started, her voice laced with relief,

"Your dad just told me that you'll be packing for the new branch next week."

"Mum, if I didn’t know you better, I’d say you’re happy that I’m relocating," I responded, my tone teasing, but I couldn't help the seriousness creeping in.

"No, Ronan, I’m just looking out for your safety," she insisted, but I could hear the underlying anxiety in her voice.

I sighed, rubbing my temples.

"Mum, what are you really worried about?" I asked, even though I already knew the answer.

"It’s your stepbrother, Robin. He’s no good, Ronan, especially in the company’s business together with you. He’ll stop at nothing to get what he wants," she said, her concern palpable.
