Daisy. That meddling little rat has ruined everything. I can hardly breathe for the rage boiling inside me, knowing that she has single-handedly dismantled all the careful work I’ve put into maintaining my reputation with the magistrate. From the moment Leonard told me about those damn pictures, I knew I had to act quickly. I rushed to the courthouse, my heart pounding, my mind racing. I never intended to set foot in that courtroom, never wanted to be seen so close to Leonard. I’d woven a delicate web of lies—convincing Judge Kingston that Leonard was nothing more than a distant cousin, and telling Leonard that Kingston was an uncle who would ensure our victory. Everything was hidden, all my relationships kept from prying eyes. But Daisy, with her hidden camera, had managed to destroy it all.
