CATHERINE'S POV:
I leaned against Magistrate Kingston's large, leather office chair, feeling the smooth texture beneath my fingers as I shifted to settle into his lap. The polished mahogany desk in front of us was immaculate.
"So, darling," I began, my voice soft and deliberate, testing the waters of our new relationship.
"Yes, baby girl?" he responded, his voice deep and warm, as his eyes met mine with a gentle curiosity. He wrapped his arm around my waist, pulling me a bit closer, a subtle reassurance of his attention.
"I have this cousin... He's in a bit of a crisis at his company," I started, trying to keep my tone light, even though the situation was anything but.
Kingston raised an eyebrow, his expression turning serious as he studied my face.
"Go on," he encouraged, his hand tracing small circles on my back, urging me to continue.
