LIORA'S POV
I stared at myself in the mirror, feeling like I was about to step out of a dream. The dress Shawn picked out for me was stunning—soft satin with an emerald green hue that complemented my skin tone perfectly. I ran my hands down the fabric, smoothing out invisible wrinkles, and sighed. I wasn’t sure why Shawn was insisting on me dressing up. He’d said something about treating me to dinner, but there was something in his tone that made me suspicious. Still, I played along, letting him pull the strings. After everything, a quiet night out with my little brother was exactly what I needed.
I slipped on a pair of strappy heels and grabbed my purse just as Shawn poked his head into my room.
"Ready, birthday girl?" he grinned.
"Shawn, it’s just dinner," I reminded him, rolling my eyes, though I couldn't stop smiling.
"Sure it is," he said, winking at me, and I felt my suspicions rise again. He wouldn’t tell me where we were going, which only added to the mystery.
