LIORA'S POV;
The quiet of the hospital room settled around me like a heavy blanket as the door clicked shut behind my parents. I could still hear their voices faintly down the hall, my mother buzzing with excitement about being a grandmother and my father’s steady voice trying to calm her. They had left, giving me a moment to breathe, but my mind was still spinning.
Max sat in the chair by my bedside, his posture stiff, hands clasped together. I stared at him for a long moment, unable to comprehend what had just happened. My father believed Max was the father of my child. How had things gotten this far so quickly? And more importantly—why had Max lied?
I cleared my throat, breaking the silence. "Why did you say that?"
Max shifted in his seat, his gaze moving from the floor to meet mine. His usually confident demeanor was gone, replaced with something quieter, more serious.
