LIORA'S POV;
I was at work, eyes focused on my designs, but my mind was nowhere near them. I was lost in thoughts of Ronan, going over the decision I'd made for what felt like the thousandth time. It wasn’t an easy choice; it was painful, but necessary. For us both.
I didn’t notice Ronan walking into the room until he was right in front of me. “Hey, I’m back,” he said, his voice soft, his familiar warmth surrounding me as he leaned in and placed a gentle kiss on my cheek.
“Hey,” I replied, doing my best to sound casual, though my heart was racing. I knew what I had to do, and it made everything about this moment feel heavy. I moved away, creating a distance between us, feeling the ache of it immediately.
“Is something wrong?” he asked, sounding puzzled as he tried to follow my line of sight. But before he could finish his question, I forced myself to speak.
“There’s something I need to tell you,” I began, feeling my throat tighten.
