RONAN'S POV
When Nikolai sent me the location of the venue, I couldn’t shake off the unease that crept into my gut. The place looked unfamiliar, even eerie, as though it belonged in a completely different world than the polished streets of Valerie. It was nothing like Nikolai to choose a setting like this.
Sitting in my car, I hesitated for a moment before deciding to call him again. Just as I reached for my phone, it buzzed with his incoming call.
"Hello," I answered, my tone sharp with suspicion.
"I'm already here," I said, glancing out at the desolate surroundings.
"Good. Come into the uncompleted building," Nikolai replied curtly.
Something about his tone sent a shiver down my spine. This wasn’t like him. Without another second of hesitation, I jumped out of the car, my pulse quickening. Was Nikolai in trouble? What had he gotten himself into?
