In the evening I received a call from Gregory. He was inviting me to dinner. He said he had purchased a new hotel. So, I went.

After dinner, Gregory insisted on showing me around the new hotel. I agreed, though I couldn't shake off the exhaustion clinging to me from the day. He led me through the lavish halls, talking about the renovations he had planned, but I only half-listened.

My mind was elsewhere, clouded by everything that had happened with Ryder.

“So,” Gregory began, his voice taking on that familiar sarcastic tone. “How are things going with your husband?”

I could practically hear the mock in his words. I bitterly laughed, shoving my hands into my pockets as we continued walking. “As bad as it could get. He’s such a pain in the ass.”

Gregory chuckled. “Well, there are always ways to deal with people like him.” He paused for a moment, glancing at me with an almost too-serious expression. “You know, something dark…something permanent.”
