*******Aubrey’s pov*******
I rolled my eyes at him, trying to push down the irritation bubbling up. For the first time, I was actually relieved that he had called me earlier.
God knows what else Gregory might’ve said if he hadn’t interrupted. But Ryder was on another tangent, and I wasn’t about to let him ruin my night even more.
“Gregory is my close friend,” I said, keeping my voice as even as possible. “He’s helped me a lot, Ryder. We were just having dinner. Stop overthinking-”
But, of course, he cut me off before I could explain anything. “Don’t you have a lot of ‘close male friends’?” he sneered.
I glared at him, already done with this conversation. “What’s that supposed to mean?” I snapped back.
He smirked, his eyes twinkling with something smug and infuriating. “Did you perhaps eat while sitting in his lap?”
“What the fuck is wrong with you?” I pushed him away, but he grabbed my arms, pulling me back toward him.
