****************Aubrey's POV*******************
I sighed, sinking back into the chair in my office. The orders for the new jewellery line were piling up on my desk, and I had barely made a dent in them.
After the showdown with the board, dealing with men like Hampton left me mentally drained. Men like him—always trying to outsmart me, waiting for me to slip up, ready to swoop in and devour everything I’ve built. It was infuriating.
Like hell, I'll let him take over my company.
They were all a constant, looming threat. If I wasn’t careful, they would eat me alive without a second thought. It was exhausting to always have my guard up, to have to prove myself every damn day.
Being a woman is so hard.
I tossed the stack of papers aside for a moment, rubbing my temples. My frustration was bubbling inside me, threatening to boil over. Hampton wasn’t the first arrogant man I’d had to deal with, and he wouldn’t be the last.
