Chapter 25 Not your maid anymore

**Aubrey’s POV**

I stared at my phone, waiting for Ryder’s confirmation. The moment it buzzed with his text, I read it quickly.

He was ready. I quickly sent him the address and braced myself. This was the part I dreaded the most—facing him in my own space. A part of me wondered how I would even survive a whole year of this.

The sound of a car pulling up outside brought me back to the present. I stepped out onto the front porch just as Ryder’s sleek black car came to a stop. He got out, looking every bit the arrogant bastard I remembered—tailored suit, cold eyes, and that damned smirk plastered on his face.

"Well, well," he said with a sneer, approaching the entrance, his gaze flicking over the house. "There’s still time, Aubrey. You could forget about all this nonsense and come back with me. Save yourself the trouble." His voice dripped with smug confidence, as if he actually believed I might change my mind.
