Aubrey’s pov ;
I didn’t wait for Ryder in the morning. I woke up early, my mind a mess of frustration and disgust.
I couldn't bear to see him again, so I called Sophia to pick me up. She was there within the hour, helping me hobble into the car, avoiding any questions about what happened between Ryder and me.
After a quick trip to the hospital to get my leg checked out, the doctor said it was just a bad sprain, nothing broken, but I'd need to stay off it for a while. I was relieved, though the pain still gnawed at me.
Sophia drove me back home to change, and then I headed straight to the company. Work was the distraction I needed.
But I kept getting texts from Gregory. He wanted to meet, so I finally agreed, thinking maybe some time away from everything would help clear my head.
When I arrived at his house, I was greeted by his family with warm smiles, but it didn’t take long for the uncomfortable questions to begin.
