What had initially felt like a family dinner quickly turned into something far more uncomfortable. Gregory’s parents had left for the night, leaving just the two of us. Gregory’s polite demeanour, once charming, was starting to feel suffocating.
He leaned back in his chair, his eyes studying me in a way that made my skin crawl. "You know," he started, his tone casual but laced with something sharper. "I’ve always wondered why you ever got involved with someone like Ryder."
My chest tightened. I shifted in my seat, trying to brush it off with a light laugh. "I don’t really want to talk about him."
