Chapter 76 Creating a scene

Aubrey’s pov ;

The streetlights blurred as I walked, but no matter how fast I moved, the anxiety clung to me. My hands were shaking, my breath uneven.

Ryder.

For some reason, my feet instinctively wanted to take me to him. Why Ryder? I wasn’t even sure. But something inside me—a desperate need for safety—pulled me toward him, toward the one person who, despite everything, still felt like some kind of tether to reality.

And I found myself standing in front of his company.

I walked into the building, hoping he was still around. As I crossed the lobby, I asked one of the receptionists, “Is Ryder here? I…I need to see him.”

My voice cracked, making me sound more vulnerable than I intended.

The woman gave me a smile but before she could answer, a familiar voice interrupted us.

“What are you doing here?” Sage’s voice came sharp and full of venom from across the room. I turned to see her approaching with quick, angry strides, her eyes already burning with fury.
