Emily didn’t look up. Her tone was detached. "Nicholas, I told you before. I wasn’t going to apologize. Not then, not now. Even if you dragged me in front of Kristen again, my answer wouldn’t change."
Nicholas’s voice was strained, almost pleading. "I don’t need you to apologize anymore. I saw the surveillance footage." He paused, struggling to find the right words, guilt weighing heavily on him.
