Meanwhile, all day at work, Emily felt annoyed and frustrated, replaying the memory of Nicholas deliberately making her help him the previous night. He fooled me on purpose.
"What's wrong with you? Where are you lost?" Lilly asked, noticing Emily frowning in deep thought.
"Nothing, I was just thinking about something... but what about you? Why do you look so tired?" Emily replied, snapping out of her daze.
Lilly sighed, rubbing her lower abdomen. "I'm on my period, and my stomach hurts."
"Period?" Emily suddenly paused, her heart skipping a beat. "What's the date today?" She quickly glanced at her phone, and when she saw the date, her face went pale.
"Is something wrong?" Lilly asked, confused by Emily's sudden shift.
"My period is ten days late," Emily whispered, her voice barely audible.
"What? But don't you usually get it on time? What happened this time?" Lilly asked, her eyes widening in shock. "Don't tell me you're pregnant!"
