Chapter 18: The Dragon's Fury

The message reached Master Goo with the brutal efficiency that characterized the Murim. An anonymous note, discreetly left in a place he knew he frequented, contained a single sentence that chilled his blood: "Your cub is in our possession. We want the Tablet."

The fury that ignited inside Goomoonryong was like a silent storm. For years, he had tried to put his past behind him, live a quiet life, and find some kind of peace through teaching. But the Murim always found a way to drag him back into his darkness.

The thought that Yi Shi-woon, his young apprentice, was suffering because of him filled him with a cold, calculated rage. He knew who was behind this. The symbol on the note, though subtle, was unmistakable: The Black Leaf Clan, a ruthless and ambitious faction that had been seeking the Azure Dragon Tablet for generations.

Goomoonryong clutched the note in his hand until his knuckles turned white. He had sworn never to get involved in the search for the tablet again, but now he had no choice. His apprentice's life was at stake.

He immediately began planning. He knew the Black Leaf Clan wouldn't play fair. If they had Shi-Woon, they would use him as a bargaining chip, and wouldn't hesitate to hurt him if they didn't get what they wanted.

His first instinct was to storm into Shi-Woon's holding cell and wipe them all out. But he knew that would be a trap. The Black Leaf Clan was cunning, and they were likely waiting for him. He needed a plan, a strategy that would allow him to rescue Shi-Woon without putting him in further danger or handing over the tablet.

He remembered Shi-woon's abilities, his rapid progress, and his determination. Although he was still young and inexperienced, he had incredible potential. Goomoonryong trusted that the boy would stay strong until he could arrive.

He contacted Sera Kang. He knew she had her own contacts within the Murim and could provide him with useful information about the Black Leaf Clan and its possible location. Sera, upon learning of the situation, immediately mobilized, her loyalty to Goomoonryong unwavering.

While waiting for Sera's information, Goomoonryong began to prepare. He mentally reviewed his techniques, anticipating possible confrontations. His body, despite years of relative inactivity, still remembered the fury and precision of the Nine Dragon Arts.

The thought of handing over the Azure Dragon Tablet crossed his mind. It would be the easiest way to secure Shi-woon's release. But he knew that if the tablet fell into the hands of the Black Leaf Clan, the consequences for the Murim could be disastrous. He couldn't allow such power to fall into such ruthless hands.

Finally, Sera Kang contacted him with the location of the warehouse. It was on the outskirts of the city, a secluded location perfect for his purposes. Goomoonryong listened intently to the information, his mind formulating a plan of attack.

He knew he had to be quick and precise. Time was against him. Shi-Woon was in danger, and he couldn't afford to fail. The fury of the Dragon of the Nine Arts was beginning to awaken, an unstoppable force driven by the need to protect his apprentice and the determination to face his past once more. The silence of his retreat had been broken, and the Murim was about to feel Goomoonryong's full fury.
