Chapter 126: The Simplest Resurrection Technique
"So it was you!"
Flying Squirrel gazed calmly at the newcomer, as if he had already expected him. "Yueping."
Under normal circumstances, unless the Great Tomb was completely conquered, no outsider would ever be able to step foot into this conference room.
However, the item in the other man's hand was a world-class artifact — even if it was a single-use item.
To recklessly squander a world-class item like this… only someone like Yueping, the top-ranked player in YGGDRASIL, could pull that off.
"Your style really hasn't changed at all."
Flying Squirrel spoke in a tone that suggested deep familiarity, almost as if he were chatting with an old friend.
In reality, the two weren't friends — quite the opposite. They were more like enemies.
Yueping was never a member of the Great Tomb. The reason was simple: he was human, and the Great Tomb only accepted non-human races.
As the system had just announced, he was considered an intruder in the Great Tomb — and not just a one-time intruder, but a repeat offender.
Still, with the game about to shut down, concepts like friend or foe had long lost their meaning.
Besides, male friendships are odd things — sometimes they're forged in the middle of a good fight.
"I just visited the marketplace," Yueping said, almost boastfully. "Picked up quite a few treasures. Even snagged some of the top 20 world-class items."
Flying Squirrel blinked in surprise. "You're still collecting YGGDRASIL items?"
Even Black Halo, who was about to log out, couldn't help but chime in sarcastically:
"YGGDRASIL is about to shut down. What's the point in collecting more stuff now?"
Wasn't this just another case of someone being too rich for their own good?
Black Halo felt frustrated thinking about how he had worked himself sick just to survive.
"Comparing people only makes you angry…"
"It's always been my dream to collect every item in YGGDRASIL."
Yueping struck a flamboyant pose and then turned to Flying Squirrel.
"So, how about it? Want to hand over the Great Tomb to me? I'll pay you handsomely."
"You know I can afford it."
"I can make your real life a lot more comfortable."
Who didn't know that Yueping — the number one pay-to-win player in YGGDRASIL — had poured in astronomical sums into the game? Sums beyond the imagination of the average person.
Flying Squirrel wavered for a moment.
"Flying Squirrel, I really think you should consider it."
Black Halo spoke slowly, his voice growing fainter and fainter.
"That's all from me. My body's about at its limit."
He was too exhausted. Staying any longer might lead to a sudden death in the real world.
"Hopefully, we'll meet again somewhere."
With those final words, Black Halo's avatar dissolved into shards of data — clearly, he had logged out.
"Gone…"
"Now, there's only the two of us left in the Great Tomb of Nazarick."
"Only the two of us... again."
Flying Squirrel muttered, staring for a long time at the spot where Black Halo had vanished. Then suddenly, his shoulders trembled violently.
"What kind of joke is this?!"
He slammed the table and roared.
Table: HP -1
"This is the Great Tomb of Nazarick that everyone built together! How can they just abandon it so easily?!"
"They're just trying to survive in the real world. That's all," Yueping said.
Flying Squirrel, initially furious, gradually calmed down.
He slumped back into his chair, speaking in a low, weary voice:
"I know… It's not that they gave up easily. It's just that they had to choose between reality and the virtual world. No one betrayed the guild. Everyone's facing the same painful decision…"
"That's why…"
Flying Squirrel took a deep breath and looked straight at Yueping, his tone becoming passionate and determined:
"Yueping, I'm sorry, but I won't sell Nazarick to you. I will protect our guild. I'll protect the place we all built together — right down to the last moment."
"Then guard your guild to the very end, Flying Squirrel."
With that, Yueping raised his right hand, opening another portal.
"Looking forward to our next meeting."
Without another word, he stepped through the portal and disappeared.
As everyone had suspected — the real person behind the character Yueping was none other than Yamcha.
In a pay-to-win game like YGGDRASIL, there was nothing that money couldn't buy. If something seemed unobtainable — it only meant you hadn't paid enough.
Yamcha's collection of items was vast beyond measure.
In another world — even the most seemingly worthless green-tier junk item from YGGDRASIL could become a legendary "sacred artifact" sought by countless people.
Of course, Yamcha hadn't come to this world just for the items.
No matter how powerful, they were still far inferior to Doraemon's secret gadgets, or at most usable in the early stages of the Dragon Ball universe. He chose this world for a different reason entirely.
23:59
YGGDRASIL was set to shut down at 00:00 — less than a minute away.
23:59:48... 49... 50…
As the final ten seconds ticked down, only Yamcha knew what it truly meant —
A new world. A new journey.
00:00 — 00:01... 00:02... 00:03…
The moment the clock struck midnight, Yueping, the character in the game, suddenly seemed alive. He could feel the moist air, the gentle breeze brushing his cheeks with the scent of grass — a sensation completely different from anything in a virtual game.
He had arrived — in the real world.
At the same time, in the real world, inside a luxurious two-story apartment, Yamcha slowly opened a door.
Inside the room, another Yamcha lay still, wearing a motion-sensing VR headset. Except for his faint breathing, there was no sign of movement.
That body's consciousness was no longer present.
It now resided in the game avatar Yueping.
Yamcha placed a hand on the shoulder of the Yamcha wearing the headset. With a soft white glow, the figure gradually blurred and finally vanished into thin air.
"Perfect. Not a bit of power was lost."
As his duplicate merged back into the original body, Yamcha took a moment to feel it — then smiled in satisfaction.
Did you really think Yamcha would abandon his original body — along with all the powers he'd painstakingly gathered like Stands, Nen, psychic abilities, martial arts — just to settle for a mere game avatar made by YGGDRASIL?
No way!
He had obtained the dual-body ability from Kastro through Pawnshop No. 8.
He used that power to its full potential: the clone played the game, while the real body stayed far away.
So the one projected into the other world was just the consciousness of a duplicate.
The best part? He could recall it anytime, without any losses — and he even gained a free body from it.
Most of the items in YGGDRASIL weren't of much value to him —
But there was one thing, or rather, one series of skills, that was extremely valuable:
Resurrection Magic!
This was the simplest way to acquire resurrection.
