Chapter 127: Obtaining a Max-Level Account

Chapter 127: Obtaining a Max-Level Account

Overlord, also known as The Undead King, is the name of the series in the world where Yamcha currently resides.

The story revolves around the once incredibly popular online game "YGGDRASIL," which has reached the day it will cease operation. A young man named Suzuki Satoru waits in the guild hall for the server to shut down. However, when the scheduled time passes, his character is unable to log out. Trapped in the form of the most powerful undead mage with a skeletal appearance, Suzuki Satoru finds himself transported — along with the entire guild — to another world under the identity of his game character, Ainz Ooal Gown. The NPCs of the guild have also suddenly gained sentience, and under Ainz's leadership, the guild embarks on an unprecedented fantasy legend.

Simply put, it's about a gaming nerd who stays online until the very last moment before the servers shut down. Then, he finds himself transported into the game as his character, now in another world — and from then on, this skeleton begins a journey to dominate the world in a tale where "chicken-talk" (i.e., humble struggle) is completely unnecessary.

Even the basic health potions used by the protagonist "Ainz Ooal Gown" are rare treasures in this new world.

The story is the epitome of a power fantasy, with over-the-top coolness and dominance.

As for Yamcha, he uses the ability of "Dual Bodies" (二重身) to transfer his consciousness into a game character.

To put it simply—

My soul-traveling self now has the ability to travel to other worlds. One of my avatars traveled through a game to the other world by taking over the character I created.

In other words, I soul-traveled into a world where I soul-traveled into another world.

Infinite recursion.

This Yamcha avatar named Leping is dressed in a deep blue robe — though it's more accurate to call it a martial arts uniform than ordinary clothing.

But this isn't just any martial arts uniform. It's a world-class item — immune to all magic below tier 9, reduces physical damage by 60%, and can even resist certain rule-based powers of other world-class items.

Just gathering the materials to craft this equipment had cost Yamcha a huge amount of money, and he hired over a thousand players just to help collect resources.

Yamcha only has about ten items of this level.

A martial arts uniform? Could it be that Leping's class is a human martial artist?

If you think that, you couldn't be more wrong. While he wears martial arts clothes, his class is Mage.

Haha, you thought I was a fighter? Surprise! I'm actually a mage!

But if you think this avatar is just a regular mage? Wrong again. Leping once used basic stats so low they were nearly nonexistent and only common skills to defeat a dragonkin martial artist in a direct fight — relying solely on years of martial arts experience.

He beat the guy so badly that he rage-quit and never logged in again.

By the way, that dragonkin martial artist was one of only nine world champions in the entire game.

Sometimes, the difference between players is bigger than the gap between humans and pigs.

That's why, although Leping is technically just a human, he's one of the most fearsome figures in all of YGGDRASIL. Even the Tomb of Nazarick, one of the top five guilds in the world, got invaded by him just because he wanted to.

You don't fear a whale spender — you fear a whale who's also a monster of skill.

He even secretly used Porygon's power to alter YGGDRASIL's data, creating something even more outrageous than the top 20 world-class items.

In Yamcha's inventory lies a pitch-black piece of metal, quietly resting.

"You've come, main body," Leping said, looking at Yamcha, who had suddenly appeared before him.

As long as coordinates exist, Yamcha's ability to "break the fourth wall" allows him to freely enter and exit.

"Let's fuse," Leping said.

In truth, there was no need for them to speak — because they are, in essence, one and the same.

"Even though we've simulated this over 3,000 times and Mewtwo says there shouldn't be any problems… now that it's actually happening, I'm still a little uneasy."

"After all, it's the first time."

Yes, fusion.

In the real world of YGGDRASIL, Yamcha had already recovered a mindless avatar. And now, he's taking back the avatar that only retains consciousness.

Of course, ordinary methods wouldn't work — even if they are essentially one being.

But—

"Pawnshop No. 8!"

As long as both parties agree, it becomes a cheat-like power.

The moment that ancient-looking building appeared, Leping walked in without hesitation.

Moments later, a brand-new Yamcha walked out.

"Brand-new" wasn't quite accurate — he looked almost the same, just slightly more handsome and refined.

The YGGDRASIL character Leping disappeared, completely fused with Yamcha. Since they shared the same consciousness, there were no issues. If it were two different people, the result could've been… quite chaotic.

In theory, Yamcha could even create long-lived elf avatars to solve the problem of mortality.

But for now, he's still young and possesses three powers that delay aging and enhance vitality: Ripple (Hamon), Nen, and Qi. Together, they fill his body with such abundant life energy that lifespan isn't a concern — not for hundreds of years at least.

"Let's give it a try."

Yamcha's eyes narrowed. He reached into the air with his right hand.

A ripple followed as a palm-sized "black hole" opened less than five centimeters from his fingers.

This wasn't a real black hole — it was a dimensional space for storing equipment and items, otherwise known as the inventory.

His hand slowly entered the black hole, and when it came back out, he was holding a giant sword at least twice a person's height.

It was a blue-tier item from the YGGDRASIL world.

Among Leping's vast collection, this would only be considered mid-tier at best — but in this new world, it was a national treasure capable of sparking war.

He extended a finger and gently tapped a nearby cloud.

A beam of deep blue light shot out, striking the white cloud.

The cloud turned black — and thunder rained down like a storm.

Tier 3 spell: Lightning Summon.

Yamcha couldn't help but smile, the corners of his mouth curling upward. After the fusion, he had inherited all of the YGGDRASIL character's powers.

In other words, thanks to the game shutdown, Yamcha had freeloaded an entire max-level character's worth of power, along with a spatial item inventory ability.

He pointed into the air again, and a status window appeared before his eyes.

Race: Human

Level: ??? (Race Level 40 + Class Level 60 + ???)

The "???" was because YGGDRASIL's max level cap was 100 — but after fusing with a max-level avatar, Yamcha had clearly exceeded that limit, making his level impossible to display.

If Yamcha had been born in any world except the Dragon Ball world...

With this level of power, he'd be living large right now. Unfortunately, his world is one where power levels break the universe.

Frieza, Cell, Majin Buu — the three mountains of the Dragon Ball Z era.

Time to set a small goal:

Defeat Frieza first.
