Chapter 29: Eye opener

When the baby first cried, Felix slumped in his chair, and began to cry. He had watched Mathew take the young girl from the first push, to the last, and she was breathing heavily, sweat marring her brow. Yet, she was also glowing. As Mathew placed her child in her arms, he turned to size Felix up.

"First time seeing a birth?" Mathew asked, his gaze stern. Before, he thought that the bunny was confident about his abilities, but now he wasn't as certain.

"It was so…" Felix had no words. This was the scariest thing he had ever seen. And his mother had done it twenty-one times. How did she find the courage to do this, he wondered?

"If you want to be a healer, you have to learn even things like this. I take it, you never went to medical school?" Mathew asked, as the woman cooed at her child.
