His Betrayal

I couldn’t concentrate on what I was reading. My mind was filled with Caleb and his betrayal. Was it really betrayal? I was the one who approached him first, seeking his guidance.

I thought, for once, I had found a friend here. Perhaps he genuinely wanted to help me. Now, I feel like he’s just following his Alpha’s orders. It’s not really a secret to this pack that the Alpha wants me to get stronger so I could finally shift.

“I can feel your worries, mate.” The Alpha’s deep voice pulled me out of my reverie. He steals a glance at the book I hold on top of my belly. I knew he noticed that the page hadn’t been turned for half an hour now.

He stops writing and puts down his pen on his table. His attention shifts to me. He leans down to my neck and takes a whiff of my scent as he adjusts me on his lap so my body presses closer against him. His gesture causes tingles, and it tickles me so much that I almost release a giggle.
