Caleb
For days I couldn’t sleep. Guilt and worry consumed me like an illness. I tossed and turned every night, I just couldn't. My friend whom I betrayed invaded my mind like a last song syndrome but worse. I had hurt her… again. All the girl ever wanted was a friend. I let her trust me and then destroyed it, crushing her heart in the process.
After what I have done, I knew she’ll never trust me again.
Instead of wasting my time trying to fall asleep when I knew I couldn't, I decided to help with the patrol. Ever since our encounter with the hunters, security was tight and doubled. Why not make use of this time then? I scoff internally, knowing the damage I've done.
“Come on, Caleb. We’re done here.” Callum, my partner for tonight’s patrol, said. Another two will come to take their turn as we retire for the night.
