Re:Zero: Starting Life in Another World as King Arthur

First of all, this fic has been written more than 10 times by different people, with a few changes, and without exception, all of them were left unfinished. I hope you don't leave it unfinished either. Arthur's statistics Str: A End:A+ Agi:B MP:A Normally if there is a reason for changing it like this you can say it and also these stats are valid for heroic spirit if MC is made of flesh and blood, if it is not a heroic spirit then the stats should be even higher. Heroic spirits have lower stats than the originals.

Honest Review. Writing Quality: Didn’t notice any spelling mistakes, which is a plus. In exchange, the author doesn’t seem to know how to develop a story at all. Everything feels way too rushed, poorly written, and with an awful sequence of events. Stability of Updates: 1 chapter every 3 days. Normally this would be a decent update rate—average at best—but considering the quality of the chapters, it’s pretty bad. Story Development: In every possible way: Terrible/Horrendous. A ridiculous amount of things were changed in surreal ways. Avalan being unable to heal a “basic” curse (the one that hits Rem at the start, which is FAR from being one of the stronger curses), Excalibur not having the proper effect on Elsa, and many more issues. (And just to be clear, yes, Satella was able to ignore Avalon completely. Arthur now has a permanent wound that will never heal.) Character Design: The Re:Zero characters aren’t that badly written (by this author, not the original), but Arthur is a complete abomination. He’s literally just a hormonal teenager who suddenly tried to shoulder all the burdens of the original Arthur and now treats all of Arthur’s accomplishments as if they were his. He’s constantly stressed, repressed, childish. On one hand, it kind of makes sense. On the other, it completely diminishes the character of [Arthur Pendragon], who was the entire reason I started reading this in the first place. I expected a properly represented character, even if the author had to bend things a little, not this disaster. World Background: Re:Zero, with some bizarre Fate mashups (Morgan Le Fay is lurking around). At most 3 stars. ====== My personal thoughts—besides the brutal honesty above—are that, unlike the “Mordred in Re:Zero” fanfic (which was excellent), this author had no clue how to represent Arthur Pendragon properly. A King, a Dragon, a Knight, wielder of Excalibur, Avalon, Caliburn (yes), Rhongomyniad (yep, he has that here), completely unable to deal with a vampiric assassin, and needing to release most of Rhongomyniad’s seals just to handle the first “threat” (basically a mini-boss from the first arc of Re:Zero, aka the village incident where the kids disappear and Rem gets bedridden or dies in a few loops). It’s honestly depressing to see how much nerfing and misrepresentation this character suffered. If you just wanted to write a character with Arthur Pendragon’s looks and powers, you should’ve gone with something like a “Character Template,” from 0 to 100%, justifying power changes and whatnot. Not literally wake up as Arthur Pendragon, with the only explanation for being weak being the wound he got from Mordred, which was hit by Satella’s curse and is now permanently incurable. The author casually threw Avalon in the trash, along with the entire concept of invulnerability that Arthur/Artoria is supposed to have. It’s genuinely frustrating. Thanks for reading this review.
