Chapter 3: Partner Pikachu!

Chapter 3: Partner Pikachu!

~Azure S. POV~

[Kanto Region, Pallet Town]

Returning my way to Pallet Town, I made a direct beeline to the Route 1 entrance. There, I saw Professor Oak talking to 3 flying Pokémon nearby him.

It was a small, plump-bodied avian Pokémon. It is primarily brown with a cream-colored face, underside, and flight feathers. On top of its head is a short crest of three tufts. The center crest feathers are brown, and the outer two tufts are cream-colored.

Just under its crest are its narrow eyes, which have white sclera and pupils and black irises. Angular black markings extend from behind its eyes and continue down its cheeks. It has a short, stubby beak and feet with two toes in front and one in back. Both its beak and feet are a grayish-pink. It has a short, brown tail made of three feathers.

He was talking to 3 Pidgey, and I managed to overhear his conversation as he said happily, "I think I understand you all a bit better now. Thanks for this."

*Fwp*

The Pidgeys all flew away as I took a step closer. His eyes, alarmed, gazed at me with a yell, getting my attention, "Hey! Wait! Don't go out! It's unsafe. Wild Pokémon live in tall grasses! You need your own Pokémon for your protection! You do have one, right?"

Shaking my head, no, he sighed as he came towards me. I explained in a respectful tone with a light bow of respect, "No, I don't, Prof. Oak, sir. I was hoping to ask for your help to get me my first Pokémon. I've overheard some people mentioning you weren't in the lab, and checked to see. When I heard you were in Route 1, I came as soon as I could to ask for your help, sir."

Making his way towards me, he sighed but let a small grin, understanding my concern, as he said in a calm tone, "Is that so, huh? Very well, since you were patient and respectful, I'll gladly assist you, young boy. I promise to give you your Pokémon by the end of today. In that case, why don't we head over to – "

"Pika! Pika!"

*Rustle*

The sounds of a Pokémon temporarily disturbed us as Professor Oak stumbled, surprised to find the culprit. In a surprised tone, "Hmm? Wh-what's this?!"

*Rustle*

The figure emerged out of the tall grasses in front of me as my eyes widened in shock. The Pokémon is a short, chubby rodent Pokémon. It is covered in yellow fur with two horizontal brown stripes on its back. It has a small mouth, long, pointed ears with black tips, and brown eyes.

Each cheek is a red circle that contains a pouch for electricity storage. It has short forearms with five fingers on each paw, and its feet each have three toes. At the base of its lightning bolt-shaped tail is a patch of brown fur.

Pikachu! I noticed it was a Pikachu. I used my [Observe] function to see if it worked on Pokémon. And my heart almost stopped reading the name.

[Partner Pikachu (M) Lv.5 Mouse Pokémon]

Reading the name, another text showed up, and I couldn't help but flinch at seeing the text screen in front of me. Just like in the Pokémon games, huh?

[Oh! You encountered a wild Pikachu!]

Prof. Oak managed to get close to me as he muttered, equally surprised to see a Pikachu here in a stunned tone, "My, my… I surely wouldn't have expected a Pikachu to appear around here! But since the opportunity has presented itself, why don't we practice some Pokémon catching? You just have to throw out your Poke Ball and try to land it on a wild Pokémon for the chance to catch it!"

Nodding my head, I wondered if this was the Guild Master's work or simply luck. Reeling my Poke Ball, I enlarged it as I tossed it cleanly at Pikachu, "Alright! Let's go Poke Ball!"

*Swooosh*

*Riggle*

*Niggle*

After managing to catch it inside the Poke Ball, it began to wiggle. I hoped in my heart to capture Pikachu till…

*BON*

[All right! You caught a Pikachu!]

*Bdmp*

*Bdmp*

Feeling my heart race, seeing Pikachu inside the Poke Ball, I felt excitement catching my own Pokémon. But I had to settle down as I felt my heart race incredibly fast.

However, my attention to reality returned as Prof. Oak said in a cheerful tone, congratulating me, capturing Pikachu, "That was a pretty fine performance for a first-timer, my boy! Why don't you pick up that Poke Ball and give the Pikachu you caught a name? What in the – ?!"

*Boing*

*Boing*

My eyes widened as Pikachu's Poke Ball began to bounce up and down. My Poke Ball containing Pikachu began to bounce around us as Professor Oak responded oddly, "Now, that's a lively Pokémon if I've ever seen one!"

*Swoosh*

It was when my Poke Ball began to roll incredibly fast. And rolled off as Prof Oak yelled, helping me catch it back, "Hey! Wait! Come back!"

Immediately, I followed him, trying to get my Pokémon back. I should be with Professor Oak getting my Pikachu! Better hit the gas!

~Third POV~

[Kanto Region, Sunset, Pallet Town]

Red soon returned from the West Forest after his crushing defeat at the hands of Mew, with his Poliwhirl defeated in one move. He began to contemplate his choices of being the best trainer as he walked around Pallet Town after his Poliwhirl was healed.

Walking down the edge of town deep in thought finally decides to meet Professor Oak talking out loud, "So this is ol'Professor Oak's lab… they say he's a mean old geezer… so I always kept away… but I guess the only place I'll learn to be a great Pokémon trainer is here."

Heading towards the Lab, Red's finger trembled a bit before finally pressing the doorbell once, but then multiple times as no one answered the door.

*Bing*

*Bonng*

*Bing*

Realizing that on one was home Red goes for the doorknob and was surprised that it was open turning the knob asking out loud in a confused tone, "Anybody home? Huh?! It's open!"

*Kriii*

Entering the lab of Professor Oak, Red was shocked to see rows and rows of Poke Balls inside, each containing different kinds of Pokémon. Red looked around, amazed, in a stunned tone, "Oh… w-wow… I had no idea there were so many Pokémon. What's this one?"

Seeing one of the Poke Balls separate from the rest on the row, Red picked it up, reading it as well as showing the Pokémon inside with his Poliwhirl in his ball. Curiously, he said, "Bulb… a… saur. It has a bud on its back! Cool! Look at this, Poliwhirl!"

As Red was busy showing his Poliwhirl to the frightened Bulbasaur, hissing in worry, Professor Oak finally came back as the door opened, looking sternly at Red. "You… you… Poke thief!"

Suddenly being accused of being a thief, Red was quick to defend himself against the situation in an alarmed tone, "W… wait! N-no… I mean I… waaa…!"

Backing off, suddenly hitting on a button nearby because of Oak's sudden arrival, his eyes widen, and he yells at Red in a concerned tone, "NO! You idiot!! EE-YAAA!!"

*Pshhhhh*

*B-B-BOING*

Suddenly, the rows of Poke Balls within one row within the shelves opened as the Pokémon contained inside too this chance to jump out, heading through the door, window, or any free entrance to the outside world.

Oak tried to stop the Pokémon from leaving as a Pidgey pooped on his face flying away with Oak yelling at Red angrily, "Just get them back!"

Red immediately agreed and began to capture the ones that were stuck inside as the others broke through the window, escaping to the outside and heading straight through Route 1, heading towards Viridian City, escaping Oak and Red for the time being…

On the outside of the Lab chase was the show unfolding before her, resting her body leaning towards a tree, seeing the Pokémon escaping outside, talking to herself in a curious tone, "Huh? Guess they are busy recapturing the Pokémon inside while the others are escaping. Better wait a bit before they start running off."

[Kanto Region, Sunset, Pallet Town – Oak's Lab]

Much later, with the sunset showing and Oak panting, exhausted from capturing the Pokémon inside his home, he thinks, "How… many more…? Hufff… huff… uhh… don't tell me that some of them… huff… escaped."

Seeing the broken window in his home, Red got up, promising to help recapture the one who escaped outside, and worriedly said, "I-I'll go out an' get 'em!"

However, before Red had the chance, Oak grabbed him by the jacket, talking to him angrily, "Oh, no you don't, Poke Thief!"

Red felt a bit of pain being pulled back by Oak, but tried to reason with him to let him help with the trouble he had caused. "But I'm not a…! I'm sorry I came into your Pokémon Lab uninvited. I'm sorry I let your Pokémon loose! But we've gotta get'em back or…"

Oak replied, looking at the sunset, suggesting it was going to turn dark soon enough if they followed the missing Pokémon in a determined tone, "It's too late for that. It'll be dark before we can find them all."

Red, not deterred by this, tries to convince Professor Oak before rushing outside, trying to recapture them, "We can't give up! I'm going after 'em!"

Just as Red left, the sound of a bike bell ringing was heard as he looked behind to see Professor Oak following after Red in a stern tone, "You think you can do it all by yourself? You won't know what to look for!"

Red smiles, seeing Professor Oak deciding to help, but soon apologizes for what he says next, "And after we get them all back, you'd better believe that I'm turning you in!"

Red could only agree sadly at that with Oak by his side, "Yes, sir!"

But in the far distance, with the two leaving ahead, the girl revealed to be Green snickered as she entered inside in a hushed tone, "Ok. Seems like the two finally left. Now I only need to take one of the Pokémon with me or see if I can find some good items from here."

Like that, Green began to enter the abandoned Pokémon Lab filled with Professor Oak's belongings, but briefly paused, blinking at the table containing 3 holsters for each Poke Ball. The ones that read 'CHARMANDER' and 'BULBASAUR' were clearly gone.

Yet her eyes darted towards an unknown Poke Ball placed inside one of the holsters as she reached for the Poke Ball with the holster named 'SQUIRTLE', thinking to herself in a confused tone, 'Huh? I swear there was only one a few seconds ago, but now there are 2 of them?'

Shaking her head, she began to move ahead, collecting any items she could steal. However, unaware of herself, Azure finally arrived, panting lightly, muttering, "Finally! Finally, I found this place!"

Azure arrived at Oaks Lab, panting from exhaustion. His eyes darted towards the defenseless lab in search of his Poke Ball containing his Partner Pikachu…
