Chapter 9: Pokémon Trainer
~Azure S. POV~
[Kanto Region, Viridian City – Pokémon Center]
After finishing up my battle with Ralph, Nurse Joy soon came to me to take care of my Pokémon and get it healed. As she approached me, she said kindly with a smile, "Wait, young man. I can help take care of your Pokémon for the time being, and one of the Elite Trainers would like to hand you your Trainer License."
I nodded and agreed with Nurse Joy's words, following my instructions. Returning my Pikachu inside their Poke Ball, I began to hand them over to Nurse Joy to heal him, while I was soon pointed out where the elite trainer was to give me my Trainer's Card.
Following the directions of where the Elite Trainer would be, I immediately followed her into a room with other Elite Trainers, where she spoke out to me in congratulations, "Congrats on finally being a trainer, kid. Would like to see you go to big places. Here's your official Trainer Card, kid."
With a satisfied expression on her face, she began to hand me a new set of Trainer Licenses with my name and information provided as she asked me another topic, "Ok. Now then, Azure, by procedure, we'll explain to you the rules of being a Pokémon Trainer."
Nodding my head, I listened to what the Elite Trainer had to say, explaining everything to me as I absorbed the information like a sponge. Nodding in understanding the elite trainer's words, then smirked at me before talking to me a bit more about how to be a Pokémon Trainer professionally, while learning certain rules to follow, thanking me.
But otherwise, everything has been quite an interesting experience overall. As for a Pokémon team, I have a few in mind.

[Kanto Region, Later, Viridian City – Pokémon Center]
After waiting a few minutes, Nurse Joy returns to give me back my Pokémon in a friendly tone, "Here you go! You're Pokémon should be fully healed."
I took my Poke Ball back to me, thanking Nurse Joy for the help healing him in a thankful tone, "Thank you very much for healing Pikachu."
*Pop*
Nurse Joy happily takes my thanks, with me taking out Pikachu for a job well done, following my orders while thanking them, "Good work, Pikachu. You trained for the hard-earned battle. From here on, it's time to move forward… but right after lunch, you in?"
Pikachu immediately agreed, as he is quite the glutinous guy. I had the pleasure of meeting him while taking care of his needs.
Still, the future is unknown to me, and I need to get some camping supplies sooner, the better for me. I couldn't help but check up on my Trainer Card with a smile plastered on my face.

Ok, so this is what my Trainer Card looks like, huh? Checking the one in my Menu, it was the same one shown on my card physically here.
Now then, time to see if I can capture another Pokémon soon and get another team member fast, but I know just the one in Viridian Forest since we're following the Pokémon Adventure Manga route this far.
That was when I heard the voice of Green coming around with a happy tone in her voice, "Hey, Azure! I managed to pass the Pokémon Trainer Exam like you!"
Like me? That's a load of bull, and she knows it!
Turning around, I saw Green come around while I made sure I had my stuff close to me with her Blasty and Nido out, and I at least congratulated her in a happy tone, "Oh? That's good to hear, then, Green. Congratulations."
Green merely nodded while I kept my stuff close by and checked my pockets twice as I finally heard her respond cheekily, "Yup. This makes healing my Pokémon easier and getting more Poke balls along with useful items. And a lot more suckers to pickpocket."
Ah, now that I can understand her character. I couldn't help but helplessly shake my head at her antics.
With Pikachu comfortably on my shoulder, I began to talk to Green, wondering where she would go next, considering the plot, "Ok then, Green. Anyway, where are you heading next? Down Viridian Forest to Pewter City or through Diglett Cave to Vermillion City?"
Green merely waved her finger at me with a smirk, scolding me like a child despite her being the literal child here, "That's. A. Secret. Later, Azure Sky hoped we would meet again someday. Hehe."
Her literal schoolgirl or cute girl act isn't going to make me lower my guard near her, not for the latest millisecond will I have my guard down around her. Like that, she left with her Squirtle and Nidoran Female, making me release a sigh of relief, but also some concern I hadn't realized.
I can easily be tracked down if people try to ambush me. That's very concerning, and I always need Pikachu out to at least warn me about any incoming sneak attack from now on, since I can be followed without me noticing. Hold up a second.
Checking my pockets, I felt – yup, I got robbed. Not feeling my Arc Phone on my person, I already guessed who pick-pocketed me.
Sigh… What a troublesome girl. Turning around to leave the Pokémon Center, I put my hand into my pocket again and with intent…
*Shiii*
Small particles of golden light filled my pants with no one noticing. I picked up my Arc Phone, snickering as I muttered out loud, "Sorry, Green, but better luck next time. Now then, how about we continue our journey, Pikachu?"
Rubbing my partner's chin, he cried out, pleased, "Cha…"
Smiling happily, I got going since Green ate up my money for her knowledge. I was lucky to save some Poke Dollars when I finally completed the Trainer License Exam, doing an excellent job managing my money.
Finally, time for my next destination… Viridian Forest. Hopefully, I'll find a partner to rely upon.

[Kanto Region, Route 2]
Exiting out of Pokémon Center, preparing to head to Viridian City, and passing through the streets, I finally landed on Route 2. Route 2 is a route located in western Kanto. It connects Viridian City in the south to Pewter City in the north. Viridian Forest and the northwestern terminus of Diglett's Cave are located on this route.
Route 2 is a uniquely designed route that contains two pathways for a Trainer to follow, which are separated by a column of trees with only a few gaps blocked by cut-able trees.
The western path can be explored by novice Trainers early in the game; the eastern path can be accessed only with the use of HM01 (Cut), which can only be used by Trainers who have obtained the Cascade Badge or have traveled through Diglett's Cave, a tunnel dug by Diglett that leads here from the eastern edge of Vermilion City.
[Observe].
[Location: Route 2
Description: A path that winds and bends from the forest's entrance. A path that winds and bends around Viridian Forest.]
Already leaving for Viridian Forest First with Pikachu out, we need to go through Route 2 first before heading there. Pikachu was now out in the open, prepared to defend me at a moment's notice… and to sit on my shoulder.
He likes being outside. I couldn't help but chuckle lightly.
As I moved forward, a passing thought of heading through Diglett's Cave to get to Vermillion City crossed my mind to search for the evolutionary stones, but I do want to see what's inside Viridian Forest has in store.
Heading my way down Route 2, I searched for my Arc Phone, looking around with my eyes just to see if there would be any Pokémon willing to jump me or if I would be cautiously aware of my surroundings.
But I should hurry up and get to the Western Path instead of the Eastern Path. Heading north from Viridian City, the road splits into two and forms a small square that rejoins and continues north past a ledge.
This small garden square contains a sign with directions on it. Further north, a cuttable tree can be found along the eastern tree line that leads to the eastern path.
After traveling west, the road then curves north and makes its way to a large patch of tall grass below a ledge, which can be avoided by going around to the east. There is another cuttable tree beside the patch of tall grass, also leading to the eastern section. To the north, past the ledge, lies the gate to Viridian Forest.
After leaving the Forest, the route continues north with a small road and makes its way east and then north to Pewter City. The route passes a large patch of tall grass that dominates the small clearing before reaching the city.
That's the Western Path most trainers go through because the variety of Pokémon that can be found inside is different from what I remember finding at rare Pokémon from different routes.
For example, rumors say that a Kangaskhan could be located there, from what the Trainers could be talking about. If I know my Manga material, I think Red and Blue were fighting over the Kangaskhan with Red healing her and allowing her to escape while screwing over Blue's capture of it letting it go freely.
While adding a Kangaskhan to my team for its Mega Evolution sounds nice, I would rather go for a Snorlax for a better Normal Type, but the main issue with those thoughts would be the required food needed for them to eat a lot.
Then again, Kangaskhan is not a bad Pokémon to have for a good tank and physical attacker, alongside Pikachu being my main Pokémon currently. I'm going to start needing more Pokémon to fill my roster soon.
Observing Route 2, I saw a Caterpie nearby. I waved at it as I continued moving forward, looking at the next Pokémon, a Weedle, and waving at it next. Despite being 11 years old again in another world, this Pokémon world does have a nice vibe to it.
Taking my time to observe the view of Route 2, taking the nice, deep, fresh air while Pikachu did the same, I still couldn't wrap my mind around it. I'm somehow in the Pokémon world, which is somehow more unbelievable.
Even at times, I still feel like I'm in a dream, wondering if I'm waking up to this cruel taste of reality, but everything so far felt so real to me. But something did catch my attention as I continued walking, listening to the sounds of flapping wings.
*Fwp*
*Fwp*
Ignoring those thoughts for the time being, my eyes soon landed on a flock of pigeons. I saw many of them in the line of trees actively protecting it as I took to view them along with a Pidgeotto near the nest.
Now I don't remember that much about the Pidgey line and its life, but… smiling at the sudden info I just got and looking back at the nest of Flying Type Pokémon nearby, with a bunch of Pidgey Eggs could be seen…
Shaking my head at the idea of stealing the Egg, I ignored the flock of Flying Types as I didn't want to engage in a fight with them. I guess I'm lucky that the Pidgey line doesn't ask for fights, unlike the Spearow line.
Those fuckers from what I recall in the anime can be quite the vicious bastards when they want to be. Moving along and carefully viewing the flock, I try to see if I can find any unsuspecting Pokémon that is trying to go near the flock.
Ignoring the bird flock, I focused my attention and efforts on going to the Viridian Forest pathway on the Western side. I'm shaking in excitement as I reach this place, or at least the gate.
I finally see the gates with a smirk on my face, along with Pikachu by my side at the ready, talking to him in an excited tone, "Ok, Pikachu, next stop searching around Viridian Forest. You ready, partner?"
Pikachu fist-bumped into the air as it cried out confidentially, "Pika! Pika!!"
Heh, I'll take that as a yes, partner. Let's see what kind of Pokémon we'll find around this place where Giovanni placed highly powerful Pokémon as their breeding grounds.
